Doing some maintenance on my 'New' to me 4Runner and pulled the air filter box to take a peek and I found three pine cones in it !!
They are now attacking me for killing them in the woods!

I had filberts and fir cones in mine at one time. All my vehicle air intakes now have 1/4 inch wire mesh over them. I've had to do the same with the air intakes for cabin air. Now I just have filberts in the hood cavities. Whenever I open/lift the hood, all the nuts rattle to the back of it.

Killer squirrels. They are watching.
Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

I am thinking because the air intake is inside the wheel well right above the right front tire the pine cones were kicked up and a couple eventually went in the opening.
These Jackpine cones are smaller and more dense than typical pine cones and can be launched pretty far and not too difficult to find there way into small openings like this.
