I have no desire for a Barrett, or any .50 cal for that matter (dang glad too!)

Yep. The last bare bones M82 I saw on display at the LGS here was $9,500 w/o optic. That was about 3 years ago. Figure another $2k or so for a decent scope. People do buy them regardless of the cost tho. I know of several around here. One guy brought his .338 Lapua to a range BBQ meet and greet last year and let folks shoot it. That was fun!!
