Just a Thought

Post by markiver54 » Tue Feb 25, 2020 2:03 pm

I enjoy reading the thread, " Our Morning Coffee and Weather " and thank you to Randy ( Vaquero ) who I believe started it long before I joined.
Every day is different, everywhere. The weather is always changing. It IS an enjoyable thread and in no way do I advocate eliminating it.
We are at 7264 posts ( 727 ) pages. Just wondering if it would have any effect on the software if it was cleaned out and started fresh ? Dunno, just a thought.
Leave the great thread, just clear out some data stored :?:
Maybe it makes no difference....would not want to affect any post counts either by doing so. ( that is, if it would ).
Administrators; ...I this makes no sense, please just eliminate this post. :D

I know...I have too much time on my hands. :geek:

Thanks, Mark.

But there is no service issue caused by any particular thread that is very large. The webpages that we read here are all (each and every one) generated on the fly by a script that pulls information from a database where all of our usernames, avatars, posts, and pictures are stored. None of the 727 pages in "Our Morning Coffee and Weather" thread actually exist until it is requested by a member or guest, and then it is built and delivered to that individual's computer and remains active on his computer for as long as he's logged on. The only overhead is the space required for the database, and that is likely nowhere near a problem. Dave bought a great data package in order to handle images in-house.

Thanks, Dave. ;)
