Why time for a wake up call! Woke up my Lil' Red Beast from his winter nap for some fresh 93 juice and a nice "spirited" drive!
Had to kick the carbs open to circulate some fresh fuel.

Bet that was a rush Larry!! Forgot about that little red pony!

Yes it was fun to hear the rumble again! Winter time crank up procedure is hook up the engine coolant heater to warm it up to 130 degrees,
put a charge on the battery hiding in the trunk, spin the engine with ignition off to get oil pressure up and fuel to the carbs.
Then a good carb prime with the pedal...spin it up and hit the ignition. Sounds like cranking up an ol' WW2 fighter plane!

Well it's around 560 at the flywheel and 560 or so torque all in at 5700 RPM. Was tested on a chassis dyno 2 yrs. ago at 485 HP at wheels and 505 Torque. Good fat torque at 2500 to start which is what cubic inches do for you. I have it cammed for that range to match the intake manifold.
The carbs are a combination I built using a full mechanical secondary 660 cfm carb in back,the old tunnel ram center squirter and a 660 cfm primary carb with vacuum secondaries which is what most of your driving is on the front 2 bbls. Get past 40% throttle and the rear link takes up and you better
hold on plus the front carb secondary comes in on top! Took a while to get sorted out but sweet now!
Oh and car weight with 1/2 tank and me is 2950 lbs!
I built the engine back in 2010 and added the 2x4 setup in 2015 plus built the carbs and setup the big ol' NASCAR type 9 inch Ford rear...3.50 gear and a locker unit.

Ha!! No restricting here! There's only one guy I know of that makes a 2x4 intake for Holley carbs that fits the Ford 351 Windsor style block and
he casts up about 30 manifolds every couple years. Based off the Ford 427 FE intake but scaled to fit he sells them mostly to the Cobra kit guys that run the Windsor engines.
I did a good bit of inside port work and here I'm boring the carb plenum ports out to 1.700 for the larger Holley 750 base plate type carbs.
Also I run a 1 1/2 inch tall 4 hole spacer between carb and manifold for extra plenum volume.

My Honda Transalp can't hold a candle to that HP & Torque! But he took me up over 80 on Sunday. Love the feeling of cutting loose.

Impressive! I have no problem with speed on the ground.

Yeah but these youngsters in their 700 HP supercharged new Mustangs sneer at my little 560...BUT I am a bunch lighter!

My supercharged 1999 lightning at 370 hp certainly gives me the thrill I need, and not even close to your pony!
Need to get her out soon too!

Oh you own a Lightning truck! Now those are fast especially the 2003-2004 I think that was the last year of production?
Have a friend that owned one and even with 102,000 miles it was still running in the 13's stock!
Yeah that's a keeper!
Newest Mustang I had was my 2001 Bullitt that I bought new. I sold a few years ago and now it is out in Nebraska and that guy is keeping it show clean.
Had some great times in the Bullitt and it was the correct Highland Green of course!

Bet they dont sneer to much when they see ole Fortys taillights

Mine is an original 2'nd generation 99+1/2 in white. Only 4000 made in white that year. Only 30,000 miles on it.
Almost perfect condition. Love it, but probably gonna sell...
