Ready to jump out Window 10 !

Been a tough day trying to get my new computer (Windows 10) to do a simple pdf file download and print a copy of my taxes.
When it downloads and you open it it's all computer jiberish and not the correct data. It opens it in notebook for some reason.

Then on top of that our printer has been having problems. So I hooked up my old computer and was able to simply download and save my
Tax info. Thought I had it made when I sent it to print BUT noooo. The printer printed out the forms but somehow the number info was missing from the boxes!!!! How does that happen???

About ready to take both of them to the range for target practice!!! New printer will be coming real quick and then get somebody to figure out the Windows 10 pdf issue.

Wish I could help you. Understand the frustration of having this device defy all efforts to accomplish a simple task. Personally, and don't quote me, but I don't think the printer is the problem. Maybe someone smarter than me can help you here.

I gambled and stayed with Windows 7. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Windows Defender and .NET are both regularly updated.

I don't have any experience with Windows 10, but I've read that its browser, Edge, is (or should be) the default PDF reader. Regardless, there are several third party options, including Adobe's own PDF reader that you could consider. Good luck.

Sadly understood, Forty. I'm off of windows 10 now and yet face some roadblocks with my Chromebook. BTW, for the most part I don't mind too much using a Chromebook. There is no way to get away from black holes or worm holes in cyberspace, at least for me. 'Tis always something.

As far as using a computer software program to do taxes, I've not done that for a number of years now. Pretty certain I wouldn't be successful, especially with the Chrome tools I need to use. So this year it was a complete paper process which included a pencil and ruled paper. Shades of grade school! ;) For documents back up and since my printer software (too old) is no longer working on the new Chromebook, I go to my local library and use their copy machine. Finally, I send a "packet of paper" to my tax preparer. I dare say I'm not their favorite customer. I'm finding doing less on the computer, the better things move along.

I guess that's a bit like my move into black powder/muzzleloading for a firearms hobby! :) Keep it simple and at a much slower pace.

When these contraptions (Pc's)1st came out, we were told they would make our lives easier. They didn't say that in order to do that, it would and is quite frustrating at times.

This is just an issue within my new computer and will get it sorted out. May have to add the Adobie program.
As far as doing the taxes I have been using Turbo Tax for several years and it runs real smooth.

Last year I did the Fed. and State for free. This year it cost me 40 bucks because I had to upgrade to next up package due to forms
needed for the Energy Credit. Local tax shops would be 125 and up!

From what I have heard.... hidden within the automatic computer updates is a program to slowly slow down your new computer.
After 4 years it will as slow as the one you replaced!!

When I first got Windows 10, it was a pain in the A.., stuck with it until I got used to it, not so bad now. My guess is you're right about getting Adobe, from the description you gave.
Good luck, pard.....

I just went to work for a new company and while having to deal with the business software I am also having to learn Windows 10 as well!

Fortunately I am largely in part more computer savvy than the company people who normally deal with this so It's not a serious problem!

May have to keep my old computer hooked up with a either net switch from old to new source!
With my old HP unit when I would do videos on my GoPro the program had good editing ability, When I loaded same program on this new unit it is totally different and have yet found out how to simply combine two videos!

Well, I suspect your issues may be more related to Adobe's PDF format than Windows 10. As suggested, download Adobe's PDF reader and print from that. That is the only way I could get anything printed on my computer. I despise PDF files, but they are everywhere.

Often the problem is in the way the pdf file is coded. I have encountered this many times, it is not WinDOZE related. Try exporting the file as a Word or other type of non-pdf file and try printing again.

I have not owned a PC or Android device for the last twenty years, and I plan to never go back to the Dark Side. Really, try an iMac or Macbook, give it a few months for you to adjust, and you will be a convert.
