i've been entertaining myself by watching the western shows and movies on the insp channel. ive enjoyed some of my childhood favorites such as Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Wanted Dead or Alive, etc. ive also taped watched some good movies. the latest was Crossfire Trail with Tom Selleck and Mark Harmon. all are great entertainment. the biggest problem i have with this channel is the repetitive commercials which are directed at older folks. the mute button and fast forward are my friends.

Got the Encore Western channel here, Love not having to endure the same half dozen commercials over, & over, & over.

Some, if not most commercials anymore, are SO repetitive and ANNOYING that they have the opposite effect on me than intended. I would purposely avoid the product or service they are selling. Certainly, whatever network your watching, has other sponsors to choose from!

And the most annoying to me are the ones the insurance companies do with pro athletes. Theres a couple others that do them without the athletes and Im not going to mention there names so as not to give them anymore exposure.

I agree, Mark. I'm also sick and tired (irony intended) of pharmaceutical ads. The cost of advertising directly to consumers is part of the reason drug prices are so high. I expect my well educated and informed Drs. to know which drug(s) will benefit me without me advising him/her that I think I should take a particular drug because I watched an actor's portrayal for it on TV or I read about it in a magazine and it looked like just the very thing I need.

Crossfire Trail is a good one. Filmed in Alberta.

The CMT Western Channel on ROKU shows a large variety of westerns, including most of the early TV western shows - including a couple I did not know existed - two being 'Annie Oakley' and 'Buffalo Bill, Jr'.

The amount of entertainment out there is phenomenal. The Wife dropped Netflix for various reasons I will not go into, and I thought that was a mistake, but wow, there is so much more now that I'm glad she did. We have Dish with the top 250 channels which most of
we don't watch anyway, but she subscribed to Roku as well. Then I got an Amazon Prime Account at a discounted veteran's rate and that's a whole bunch more.

We've had Dish for a number of years so I called one day and asked what I had to do to get the latest receivers. They said I would have them in a week. Good to their word a technician showed up a week later and installed the Hopper3 with a new Joey as well. Now I can record 16 channels and store a massive amount of shows.

We rarely watch a show in real time anymore. We just record the series and then watch when it's convenient. Then all I do is scroll through the commercials.

We've been watching the "Jack Ryan" series on Amazon and that's pretty well done.

It's nice for a couple old folks in a Minnesota Winter.

We are considering roku instead of satellite.

....just recently able to get the Cowboy Channel and RFD-TV. Been watching rodeo from San Antonio Stock Show, and lots of other horse related shows. Roy Rogers and Lone Ranger too. Good stuff.
