Going to the Doctor

Woke up last Monday with a sore, swollen elbow. Figured I had just banged it without realizing it. My friend looked at it and she suggested I should go to the Doctor. Being a typical guy I said I'd wait and see if it got better on it's own in a couple of days. Seemed to get a little better but yesterday my forearm was little swollen and a little red so I went to the walk-in. As soon as the doctor looked at it he said I had a bursa in the elbow that had caused an arm infection, gave me antibiotic shot and prescription, said if it hasn't really improved by Sunday to come back and get another shot. Said if it got at any worse to go to the emergency room so I could be admitted and get a IV antibiotic drip started. It seems a little better today but I guess I should have listened to my friend and gone to the doctor last Monday.

Glad to hear you are doing better.

Now I have a BERSA in my hand - but the only cure for it is lots of .22 LR!

Good luck, Dave. Stay with the antibiotics and definitely see the Doc again on Monday if it has not improved. That arm may not return to normal for a few weeks. Keep us posted.

My wife is like that. Trying to convince her to go aint easy. Hope you get better and dont need the hospital to do it

prayers for a quick recovery. i have a bursa in my knee. it can be bothersome but never has caused an infection.

I had a similar thing about 5 yrs ago. My knee started to ache and I thought it was just from having worked on the sink drain and being on that knee.
Well I tried heating pad and ice but it wasn't getting any better and was getting red and warm.
A day or so later I noticed a wide red streak moving from my knee on up my thigh and headed to the clinic.
When the Doc saw that he sent me straight to the hospital ER. It was an infection that had gotten into the blood stream and I was in there for 2 days
with 4 antibiotic IV's running!!

Saw a different doctor at the clinic, he said I was on the right antibiotic or I would be sicker. First doctor had wrapped my arm with an Ace bandage to keep some pressure on the elbow but if I had it on very long it would start itching so I didn't wear it much. Second doctor wrapped just the elbow with some soft cotton material and used stretchy tape on top of it for pressure, its a lot more comfortable. He wants to see me tomorrow afternoon and if the swelling has not gone down considerably he will drain the bursa. He said it was unlikely that I would have to go to the hospital for IV antibiotics so I'm feeling relieved about that.

Too bad it went to the point of infection Dave, however, Bursitis is common. You are not alone! Get it under control and learn what brings it on and how to avoid it. I know you will be ok. Look for the signs and symptoms. Hope you feel better soon!

Both doctors were pretty sure why it got infected. I've always had dry, cracked elbow skin and even though I've used emery boards on them for years with no problems I guess this time there was a deep enough crack to let some bacteria in. They suggested I quit using emery boards and use lotion more regularly (like every day).

Ask them about CBD. I personally am a believer. Sauve, tincture or roll on....they work!!!
