IF Henry Introduces a PC Side Loader will you.....

Providing it's a caliber you want will you:
FInally buy one if you do NOT currently own one?
If you currently own one will you buy an additional side loader and sell or keep your existing tube feed model?
My question also applies to the rifle calibers as well.

I might. Hoping to see a .44mag come out.

Been thinking of selling my Henry mag tube load .30-30 and buying the .30-30 side loader.

I really do understand the attraction so many people have toward side loading lever actions, but that alone isn't a feature that would encourage me to buy another .357 rifle. I don't mind that my Big Boy or Classic 22 aren't side loaders.
My shooting hobby began late in my life, just six years ago; and while I enjoy it very much, I'm content with the limited calibers and firearms that I currently own.

I'm mostly content with the firearm calibers I currently own as well, but within those I'm not opposed swapping out. Like swapping out my .30-30 tube load for the side gate version.

Personally I am 'on the fence'.
IF Henry came out with a .357 side loader in maybe 16 -18" I MIGHT be tempted. If it were CCH maybe even more.
However I really like the octagon barrel and the fact mine is accurate and I have never had any problems with it and I don't anticipate any - and I DO maintain there is an advantage to tube load with PISTOL calibers.
Reality being what it is I would probably NOT do anything.

I am currently looking for a WInchester 'Legacy' in 24-26"
If Henry were to introduce something along this design I would seriously consider one.

I don't think I'd purchase one. I like the removable tube magazine and the heavy octagon barrel of my BBB .45 Colt.

Since I don't own a .38/357 rifle I would buy a Henry side loader in that caliber. I have accumulated a good bunch of .38 Special brass and have a
batch of .357 and reload for it for my 2 revolvers it would work well for me.
Had looked at the Rossi R92 but I hear that they only offer a 1 year warranty now on their rifles. Henry made much better and great customer service.

The pistol grip stock is what lured me to the H010 .45-70. I'd like to see more pistol grip offerings, maybe a side gate in the Winchester 350 Legend

OK mistered, here's the skinny:
Just went out yesterday and put rounds downrange with the Henry 45-70 Big Boy with the side gate my wife gave me for Christmas. I also own a Big Boy 38/357 and 45.
I love all three rifles. As for the side gate, it is a great step up. I like the option of loading and topping off the magazine with the side gate,but also love the ability to down load the rifle via the magazine tube instead of cycling the bolt to empty it as on a standard lever action. Side gate loads easily and smoothly, even with the long 45-70 rounds.
I now have all three Henry's in my favorite calibers, and doubt if I will have to purchase another one. (never say never). But if I did, I would not hesitate to get the side gate. If they come out with a side gate for 357 and 45 I will stick with what I have, if for no other reason than I love the rifles as they are, and, oh yeah, Im not rich.
Anyone considering purchasing the side gate option, you will not be disappointed.

I've owned/used/hunted with rifles with side loading gates since the 60's .... I have nothing against loading gates but I prefer the tube .... if I buy another Henry, having or not having a loading gate will play no part in the decision

the only rifle I currently own with a loading gate is a vintage Model 94 that I plan to keep

Henry certainly has a knack for coming up with calibers that I know nothing about (examples : 327 & 38-55) .... as of this second, I can't think of a caliber that I don't have and that I'd be interested in adding to our collection .... if they should add a 30-30 to their Long Ranger line, I'd order it the day I found out about it

Made the same point during hunting season as you have here about the tube and sidegate feature. Nice to be able to dump the rounds out instead of cycling them out. I like both not bashing one or the other.

My first rifle decades ago was and still is a tube fed Rosi. I've never gotten used to how awkward it is to load standing in the open, balancing the rifle one handed with the inner mag tube extended, while feeding rounds into the mag tube with the other hand. Sure no problem at a range with a bench or table to help support the rifle, but in the wild, hoofing it, having a side gate is so much easier to load with.

Short answer NO.
But, ifn I could have a 24' or 26" octagon barrel, CCH receiver, with a plain or regular checkered stock. ( not the God awful carved up thang they have now), in 38-55.
Then I would be all in, but if I find a Marlin Cowboy in that caliber at a fair price, I would revert back to my original answer.

This "side load" certainly sounds like an odd invention....doubt it will catch on.

I have the Henry in .357 in the brass receiver. I love it and it shoots great, although it is heavy.

My side gate 45-70 came with a engraved stock. Don't know about the other side gate calibers. It was point of aim, point of contact at 100 yards on steel from standing position, so didn't seem to effect its accuracy.
