Here's a memory from my Christmas in Vietnam.
Fifty four years ago today we threw a Christmas Party for the Orphanage in the village. All the local children found out and we were mobbed with children. It turned into chaos! My friend and I took two gunny sacks of treats we had made in the mess hall kitchen at night, and walked the streets giving out little packets to children we encountered. One Mother told us as she was crying, that they were Christian, and this would be the only Christmas they would have. Her husband was in the ARVN and she didn't know where.
I think about that every Christmas when my Grandchildren are acting stupid.
