The Doors
We all know and love Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday in 'Tombstone' but if any of you are fans of musician docu-dramas catch 'The Doors' sometime.
I hadn't seen it in several years but it was on tonight and I thoroughly enjoyed it again as a long time fan of The Doors.
It is An excellent early perfomance by Kilmer as Jim Morrison along with Meg Ryan as his girlfriend Pamela.
The movie is somewhat 'dark' and at times violent but accurately depicts Morrison at the height of his fame and effectively intermixes imagnative 'allegory' during his performances And were mostly factual recreations of his more 'imfamous' actions on stage.
There have been a lot of good actors & actresses chosen to play famous musicians but in this case Kilmer 'became' Jim Morrison in the movie.

Re: The Doors
I saw it a couple times a long time ago and agree completely with your summary. Would not mind seeing it again. I am a fan of their music. Saw them in the early '70's at the Milwaukee Summer Fest. Of course that was without JM.
Yes, Kilmer did a great job in the movie!

Re: The Doors
I prefer this one.
Mostly because 'LA Woman' is my favorite Doors song and I like all the original footage in it.
As an amatuer singer I have Karoke'd this song many times to the 'astonishment' of the crowed!

Re: The Doors
Unfortunately no vids I know of doing 'La Woman' but I tend to prefer a lot of the less popular, non- 'top 40' songs by popular artists.
One of My all time favorite songs (and a karaoke favorite) is 'Jungleland' by Springsteen.
Springsteen's' ''Top 40' songs paid the bills but his album songs were really his 'essence' and creativity.

Re: The Doors
Without getting political...I must remind you of Springsteens' views. I used to like him. My older sister met him and dated one of his close friends back in the day, however, my opinions have changed.Mistered wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 11:36 pmUnfortunately no vids I know of doing 'La Woman' but I tend to prefer a lot of the less popular, non- 'top 40' songs by popular artists.

Too bad, because I grew up in NJ and saw him at the ' Stone Pony ' in Asbury Park NJ.
What a disappointment now.

Music is one of the 'arenas' I have never particularly criticized the artists' political 'proclivities' but concentrated on their particular style and songs instead.
However I understand where your are 'coming from'....

I agree Mark. My political views and my beliefs effect the music I will listen to and will effect products I buy. May not be the way to to do it but its how I am and Im not interested in changing it either.markiver54 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 11:51 pmWithout getting political...I must remind you of Springsteens' views.
