FPC levels are being ramped up Nationally per Northcom until further notice. Most facilities are at FPC Bravo (and have been for many years), but may go to Charlie if the Commander thinks its warranted.

This would include Recruiting offices and the VA.

The sailor at Pearl who was standing guard on his own submarine USS Columbia fell of the radar since the 5th.

With the shooting in Pensacola I think it was a wake up call for the Pentagon. At least I hope it was, I hope they tighten up security and keep it tight. I don’t mind taking more time to get onto a base if they want to check my ID and walk a dog around the car. Serious evaluation of who we allow access to military establishments is way past due.

Agreed. That's why I opened with "info only". Primarily for the benefit of those who visit bases, etc. (retiree's and so on) to expect some inconveniences and plan accordingly. Different units, installations, etc. will implement any additional security as the individual commands see fit, so it's not a blanket "do this and that" thing. They have a lot of latitude with the details. We're not at the Alamo stage yet.

I agree completely however this is not a case of somebody who was inadvertently or accidentally 'allowed access' and had no authorization to be there.

This person was a 2nd lieutenant in the Royal Saudi Air Force. and a student Naval Flight Officer.

His background was no doubt checked at the highest levels prior to being admitted to this program.

I think the Military needs to reevaluate it's policies of admitting any Foreign Nationals to participate in U.S. based training programs.

That's already happening. The news is running stories about it, and a couple VIPs have demanded the same. We'll see if anything significant gets implemented. The base near me is a AF training base that also hosts foreign trainees. Columbus, MS. I frequent it about once a week.

For those who may not know, the on-base Commissaries and Exchanges as well as other facilities get quite a lot of truck traffic for a wide variety of goods and services, all of it under contract from commercial carriers and civilian services, so shutting all that down is really out of the question.
