Pretty good one Al, I have never feel asleep while hunting, but I have had them walk up behind me.
Once two came right beside me not more than a couple feet.
Never even heard 'em till they got right there I was sitting next to a tree like that pic.
Then one steps on a twig or something, startled me and I quickly turned to see and they bolted.
Might near gave me a heart attack.

I’ve only sat in a tree stand twice, but came damn close to falling asleep once. It’s not really my style of hunting. I prefer boots on the ground.

years ago during bow season my wife and I were in a Texas type tower stand ... she was reading a book and I drifted off to sleep .... some time later she elbowed me and said, "There's deer" ..

.. it was a small bodied 4 point, standing broadside about 20 yards in front of us .... I put a broadhead right behind his shoulder .... the odds are good that I wouldn't have even seen him if she hadn't been there with me .... by the way, the shallow penetration of that arrow ended my bow hunting .... I have a long standing issue with my left shoulder that prevents me from using a bow rated more than the minimum poundage .... at that time using a crossbow required a certified medical assessment and in NC you had to have a pistol permit to buy one ..

.. I still have it in my wallet ....

LOLL ! I got a couple good 'asleep' while hunting stories:
While bow hunting with a friend once it was so warm we hiked out to our area very early in the morning to be in the location at first light as we only had a short window of opportunity due to the weather. By early I mean we headed out at about 2 AM , got to our spot and in a few minutes I was out like a light. I was awakened by my friend who had his finger to his lips as he was hearing elk movement. No elk killed that morning however.
#2 was more 'self inflicted'.
While hunting with a group the first night out ended up in a poker party in one guys Trailer until way too late - or should I say early?.....
Well we got up later and got going and my friend and I were dropped off at a location in the woods and we took off.
Well after a while the sun came up and it was a nice morning and we came to a small meadow on a hill and I said to my friend "I need a few minutes of rest" and he agreed. So we both laid down in the grass in the morning sun .... And woke up about 4 PM that afternoon!!
I can only wonder how many elk, deer, bear, cougar and all manner of other animals probably walked by, sniffing us out!
