Ever since I got my stock for mother's day and fixed it to my liking the better half has been itching to do something with his rifle. He has a Marlin 795, and has played with the idea of getting a wood stock, or spray painting camo on it. I said get a Boyd's stock.
He wants to preserve the weight of his original rifle. Then I recommended this technique...

The poor man can't catch a break! I made speed loaders for my tube fed rifle. Each holding 10 rounds.

Taking a lesson from those who know (USMC Scout Snipers & others), camo should be temporary & and blend in with the surrounding terrain. Otherwise it's less than useless. Snow looks a lot different than desert, woods, or concrete jungles. Unless you don't care about real camo, and just want to make a fashion statement - which can get you dead. Think about it.

But your point is well taken. These days, we all should consider how to dress not to die as we go about our daily lives. While it's not camo, (it's along the same line of thinking), bullet proof backpacks for school children are a big seller in the country's back-to-school consumer market this year -- and we're not even in a war zone. Think about that.

I'm not so sure we don't live in a war zone. Depends on your definition of (and criteria for) a "war zone" I think. It's often a political determination, not a reality on the ground that is easily defined by the presence, or absence, of bullets and blood.

As far as I'm concerned, the U.S.A. is NOT a war zone, politically, racially, religiously, or otherwise. But, it seems too often that too many of us react and behave as if it were one.

As a citizen and patriot, it breaks my heart. As Tiny Tim said, "God bless us, everyone".

I was showing what I thought was a cool process for a simple modification. There is no reason for pink camo, ever. This could possibly be a little girls first rifle / BB gun. Due to the fact that is just a stock being dipped we won't know. I was just showing my better half that there is another really cool modification option. I thought everyone else would like the process as well. Our rifles will be used for hunting in the very near future, therefore actual camo is a must if my better half chooses to go this route. Personally, I REALLY hate pink. I have even cussed a gun sales person out while looking for a new gun. He had the nerve to show me a pink one.

Dahlia --- I did this simple and relatively inexpensive mod to my favorite Benelli 12-ga Nova Tactical Pump shotgun. It was mainly to coat/protect the steel barrel and magazine extension. Looked to me and was very functional to my purpose.

The company in your video is a distributor of the materials for the hydrographic process. You probably know that. I'm gonna bet the shop here in North KC, which did my shotgun, purchased their materials from that AR supplier. The "Liquid" folk have the same pattern displayed on their website that I have on my s/g -- one of the "metal" designs. Here's a photo of my Benelli with the coat mod.

I liked Dahlia's subject line. Yes, there is a definite texture to the hydrographic finish as opposed to a steel barrel. Almost feels like a thick coat of paint, but of course it isn't paint. Much harder material and so easy to clean. Really can't explain it....must touch it to know.

The aspect is how the application of a fixed pattern changes with the contour of the barrel, and on my Benelli, especially on the extension components. I "see" at least 5 different patterns: two on the barrel, and three on the extension. Notice the elongated pattern at the thinnest barrel section under the front sight. Yeah, it probably had to be "stretched" to fit, and can easily see that one. Much more noticeable on the extension with three quite distinctive patterns. There actually may be be more if looked at very closely. Back to square one. The original sheet had one fixed pattern.

Anyway, I sure quickly noticed how unique it turned out when I unwrapped the barrel.
