This a fraction. So denominator 2(2+2) gets priority. Within the denominator the parenthesis (2+2) have priority.
8/2(2+2)
8/2(4)
8/8
One is the correct answer.

Only 1 is correct. 16 ignores the math president rules.

Steven Strogatz, writing in the NY Times, explains why the right answer is 16.

Being as you're a shipping carton guy, thought you might like this teaser
"A merchant can place 8 large boxes or 10 small boxes into a carton for shipping. In one shipment, he sent a total of 96 boxes. If there are more large boxes than small boxes, how many cartons did he ship?"

He didn't say the right answer is 16. He explained how it could be 16. He ignored or missed that "The standard convention holds that multiplication and division have equal priority" is true
except when parenthesis are involved. Hence this whole statement gets priority 2(2+2) over division in both BODMAS and PEMDAS order of operations rule.
