While at the Gettysburg gun show I picked up the Traveler's guide to the gun laws of the 50 states.

I suggest that everyone who leaves their own property with a firearm buys this book. I've just skimmed it so far and I'm glad I bought it. Thinking of moving to a different state? Same thing. It's worth checking out.

Interesting and challenging topic, Squatch. Not really that easy to travel the OR Trail from MO to the Northwest any longer! A couple of years ago I spent a short vacation in northern IL and southern WI. So I had to check up on transport and carry laws for my shotgun & revolver through MO, IA, IL, and WI. Lots of things to look at, especially when a state's laws are not real supportive.

Thanks for posting the publication you just got. There is also a good reference source for states' gun laws available on-line from the NRA-ILA. They summarize interstate transport of firearms, specific state laws, profiles, etc. Here is the web link: https://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/

Thanks for the links. I might just order the book it would be nice to have a hard copy. The only issue it may have is updates.
I use the top one listed on this link. CCW app it is available for Apple and Android. And it stays up to date when the states either do something right or ignore the second amendment and go the other way.

The author is a lawyer and updates annually. There was also a loose page in it about VA new announcement on reciprocity of permits.

It is an overview format. A full page for each state. it rates each state for friendliness. And covers everything from class 3 to castle law.

I just read through the whole thing this evening.

It sounds well laid out and worth the "price of admission"
