A drive to the Potomac Shore, (Colonial Beach,) to look at a pup to become a sister for Fiona, the little westie pup. The pup we were to see was going to receive academy training but washed out in the screening, for lack of aggression. That would make her perfect for a service dog.

Three hours later we were introduced to the eleven week old twenty five pound Belgian Malinois. Perfect playmate for the six pound westie, right? Brought "Ginger" home.
She is a Red Sable... So, Ginger. After a few minutes of bullying by the westie... ... They are fast friends.

Her training will start tomorrow..
Pics will follow... She is beautiful.

I can't imagine a Malinois washing out of anything. If so it's most likely a fault of the training. They are like very bright children, you have to sometimes find their key to learning but I've yet to see one that wasn't exceptional once you find that key. Once you find that key I pity anyone who counts on that lack of aggression. Enjoy Ginger. She may well be the best friend you ever have.

After reading the title of the thread, I was worried you had gotten a hold of my paternity test.

I have enough trouble loading sufficient ammo for myself and Clovispup as it is.

Great looking pups Jim. Heart warming to know they WILL become lifetime friends!! Congratulations on the new additions to your family!

Malinois' tend to attach themselves for life to a single individual. It'll be interesting to see if that individual turns out to be you or maybe Fiona.

That's a beautiful pair, Jim! Will be so interesting to hear how they grow together and settle into the household. Please keep us posted.

Miss T turned on the Kirby vacuum for the first time since Ginger arrived.
Geez, who would have thought that a twenty pound malinois was a lap dog.
She thought so when that Kirby started whining. Miss T was vacuuming, so Mine was the only lap available.

So funny what dogs react to. My 70+lb Labradoodle can't get far enough away from the vacuum cleaner, but just hangs out when the lawn mower and leaf blower come out. Maybe it speaks to her prior life (before rescue), or just the way she's wired. Odd, but fun to watch!

The play between the twenty pound Malinois Pup and the little seven pound Westie gets very active.
We were worried at first, afraid one of them would get hurt, however, the Westie is holding her own, and either one is prone to let up Immediately, when the other shows the first sign of distress. The Faux aggressive nature is just that... play. If you look closely at this pic... you can tell that Princess Fiona is Holding Her Own.
