Heard on Fox news this morning that today is national American Eagle Day.
To celebrate, I put my American Eagle, courtesy of Henry rifle forums and Henry U.S.A., through it's paces.

It's raining here. AGAIN, so this was a short celebration.
Only 5 shots, but it was indoors at home!
I have a .22 bullet trap and I occasionally put it to use.
With CCI .22lr "Quiet" rounds from a long barrel, it sounds more like a loud cap gun.
The noise from the round hitting the back of the trap makes more noise than the "Quiet" rounds being discharged.

Today seemed to call for such an occasion.

Yes, yes it is.
Mine is a J.C.Higgins manufactured trap designed for .22short/long/long rifle.
The instructions say you should be 50 yards away, but I've shot into this thing from as little as 25 FEET, and there is not the first sign of damage to the trap.
Nothing exits the trap, and it even has a small lip on the front that I hang a target from using a clothespin.
I can't recall who, but someone gave me this trap probably 20 years ago, and I've been putting it to good use ever since.

Interesting! I chose today to start making this. Just waiting for stain to dry so I can put the stars on and glue everything up followed by a coat of epoxy. I'll get it done sometime this evening. Don't have an American Eagle to celebrate with but I did just come in from putting a few through the new 38-55 side gate.
