An odd question

I am starting to have more of a problem with my right hand trigger finger with the arthritis in the first joint. I am starting to get a twitching in it and is not as easy to have good trigger control especially on some of the triggers that don't have really good triggers.
I was wondering if any one here has to shoot with another finger rather than the normal trigger finger? For instance have to use the next finger on your hand.(The one the road rage drivers always use)

I believe if I have to change to using another finger to shoot well I would be better trying to switch fingers than go to lefty shooting. I can shoot left handed but that would require having to hold the rifle and use the sand bags with a different hand instead of just changing to using a different finger. I am not to that point yet but I may have to practice a little with a different finger to see what results I get. Any comments?

I tried it once on my SA .45. Fortunately I had gloves on.

Bandit, if it comes to needing to use a different finger to work the trigger, I think it would still be very doable. Might mean using a different hold on the rifle with that hand, but there's no law that says your trigger hand even has to surround a pistol grip on a rifle stock. In learning to shoot my sensitive hold air rifles, for instance, I stopped wrapping my hand around the pistol grip, with the palm of that hand supporting the gun around the trigger guard. With that kind of grip, heck, I could use any finger on my trigger hand, effectively.
Another well-known trigger technique for bench rest shooters again involves not wrapping the trigger hand around a pistol grip. It's the benchers pinch trigger technique, thumb braced behind the trigger guard and the trigger finger pinching back against it. With that technique, you could easily substitute the next finger on your trigger hand.

bandit, that is some excellent advice NCG just gave. That just might be the ticket when the time comes.
Very good call there NCG!

You might also try laying your trigger finger along the side of the stock, pointing at the target, and squeezing the trigger with your social finger. Like any new technique, it will take practice, however, it can be done. We had a PPC competitor that lost half his trigger finger in a warehouse accident, but after a few months practice once he healed, was once again shooting. Took a while, but he got back his mojo.
