Just thought I'd vent a bit.
I live in city limits, so my fun life is at our cabin way up in the mountains. We would be up there for the season already except for a couple set backs. I want to shoot, and there I can freely do it. Like I said, just venting...hope to get up there soon..this time though, just later than usual.

I feel your pain Mark. I want to go out to its been 6 weeks or so for me. Weather has been garbage here and May is Family birthday month. I just cant seem to get some time for me.

Yep, know exactly what you guys mean. Nearly 12" of rain in the past 30 days here in KC, so exactly one (1) range day opportunity. More monsoons this weekend.

And I am in Denver. Arrived Tuesday to snow. Rained on Wednesday. Rained on Thursday. The sun is shining today. John and I are headed for the mountains.

Next week is the first time I've seen two days in the row where it's not supposed to rain. Used to be April showers bring May flowers. For the last couple of years at least not only does it rain for a good portion in April but the same can be said for May. This year is just worse.

No rain or snow complaints here. Better than being on fire watch anyday. Spent 3 months last year breathing smoke.

Not to gloat, but I'm lucky enough to have a very nice indoor range just a few minutes from my house. For $125 a year, the Pup and I get unlimited visits as well as "free" rentals. The only downside is that sometimes they have trouble with their A/C that feeds the range after they had to modify the airflow system a couple years ago to meet new EPA standards. When we went this week it was downright hot outside, but very comfortable on the range. I hope that augers well for the summer. Looks like it's going to be a hot one here.

Looks like we may have a smoke filled Summer again this year. The record snowfall we had in Feb. was dry powder and snowpack moisture level is now at around 30% of normal. Drought conditions have been declared for a good portion of Washington. Here in Eastern Washington except for an occasional thunder/lightning storm we rarely get any significant Summer rainfall.

Talk about weather conditions being bad, I had to call my son and withdraw from our deer lease. It is a year-round deal. Last year when the drought ended sometime in February, the monsoon started and it is still going strong. We get rain at least 3 days a week. The Angelina River has been in flood stage this whole time. We are near the headwaters and my 2 stands have been underwater. I was not able to even get near the logging road to my stand. We were shuffling other members and their kids to the only few stands that were accessible. I retired 2 years ago March. My son told me maybe I could get back to my area late next month. I am not mad or anything, the first 2 years were drought. Can't win 'em all. The deer that were taken were all in the 130-145 B&C class. I would have had to had a submarine and deer would have had to have scuba gear. I'll probably just sign up for the TPWD draw hunts. The last one I drew a Sable antelope hunt that was a lot of fun. I have gotten to hunt every species of game animal except Pronghorn. Hope for a short drought!!

I'm holding out hope for good weather for Fathers Day.
Several years ago, just for fun, I built a very inexpensive AR15 and gave it to my little brother. He said he'd wanted something in .223.
Two weeks later he called to tell me he had installed a 50 yard range in his front yard!

Every year now, with one exception, we have a "family shootout".
My 2 brothers bring their kids, and a pile of firearms, and we make a day of it.

Much to my surprise, my sister and brother-in-law have expressed interest in attending this year.
Last year I bought a .22lr/wmr dueling tree. I bought it after the shootout, so the kids haven't seen it yet.
One brother and I have identical Chiappa 1911's in .22lr, Heritage Rough Riders in .22lr/wmr, Kel-Tec PMR 30's in .22wmr, and now I have 2 Henry .22lr lever guns, thanks to the kind folks at Henry Rifle Forums, and Henry USA.

I have had an H001 for years, but now I also have the brand new American Eagle.
I think lever guns on a dueling tree should be a hoot!

I'm really looking forward to this years shootout.

You can't even imagine.
Last year I think we went through about 2000 rounds of .22lr, as well as 2-300 .223, a bunch of 9mm, .357magnum, 10mm,.308Winchester, .327Fed/mag, .32H&R mag, .32S&W long, 7.62x54R, 7.62x38, .7.62x39, .454 Casull, .303 British, 7.7x58Jap, 7mm Rem/mag, .30-30 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield...

Come to think of it, I'll bet we burned up $300 worth of ammo, if not more.
Days like these are another reason I started reloading.

We're lucky my brother lives in an obliging "neighborhood".
He is in the country, but has several close neighbors.
Every year now for the past 4 or 5 years the neighbors start shooting shortly after we do.

Must sound like a war zone, but we're all wearing "ears", so...

Mark I feel it too. I want a place where I can walk out the door and shoot or sing at the top of my voice and not have a neighbor in ear shot. But if they could hear me this is the song they would hear.

PERFECT! My neighbor, when up at the cabin have the same sorta agreement and habit. Shots...ok...we're shooting now.

Guys, you're making me sick. I used to have a house where I could shoot off my porch, and the neighbors (maybe 120 yards away) didn't care about the noise. Moved into town, still could take care of vermin if needed, but nothing extra. (still good living) Then moved to the cities, no more of that good stuff, and at least a 20 minute drive to a public range.
