So on one hand I can understand the feeling but on the other I just can't get over how stupid someone can possibly be. So what the sticker is saying is a significant portion of your economy depends on them yet your doing your best to make them feel extremely unwelcome and drive them away.

Although, not to be taken literally, there is a reason for that sentiment by some around here of which I could give you a whole list.
Certainly tourism can help an economy, but not always the case.
Would be happy to explain via PM if it bothers you, or you're just curious. Reasons can be somewhat political, so we won't discuss it here.

Said the local government cared more about the tourist than the residents.

Good Lord! We say many thing in jest that are not meant to be taken literally. You sir would go crazy if you were around me for a day. I would see to it.

Great Dan, I will respond. I want to do so on my wife's full size keyboard though. I use a 9 inch tablet and touch screen. She types very quickly and hopefully she will do so for me in about 1/10 of the time.
