Another project the wife planned for me was to install the Nest video doorbell...how hard could that be?
Well everything went smooth until trying to insert the doorbell assembly into the mount...then you discover IF you use the wire extenders
they didn't figure any space for them to sit!!! Insert your favorite words here !
So I must have missed the milling machine in the "Tools Required" instructions to machine up a spacer!

So you had to use a common tool that any household would have. What's the big deal?

Yes it comes in mighty handy for those so called "bolt ons" !

I looked at one of those along with a garage door monitor. I thought yeah that's what I need another electronic item to drive me crazy when its not working right. Looks like you done good. Think I will just stay with the old fashion way of lookin out the window and opening the back door to see if garage door is open.

Well we do have Buster and he KNOWS when somebody is within 20 ft. of approaching the porch but my wife wanted to get this
hi-tech doorbell and she got a good deal on it.
But a fun thing about it...if I see Buster getting into something out there I can yell at him thru the doorbell cam!!

Actually, wouldn't mind having one myself, unless you want to give up Buster, I don't have a Buster, just a cat that doesn't give a hoot!

daughter has one of them. I understand it has a motion detector and can send triggered realtime video to your cell phone. You can watch the UPS/FedEx folks deliver and the porch bandits steal.

We dog sit for her. Sometimes she goes to work early and I go pick up her dog and bring it to our house. Tempted to make rude gestures to the camera

I try not to piss off my cat. He can surely do damage if allowed. I, have him trained who's boss though. The wife is too passive with him. At least if anything becomes a mess, he will clean it up!

You can never win an argument with cat!

they do have a way of letting you know when to back OFF! Dogs have teeth and powerful jaws, but cats can attack with teeth and four other weapons...

Got my doorbell cam setup on my computer now. Just a click and I can see what's going on out front.

And Buster is always around...he misses nothing!

Good for you forty and your perseverance. Now you can lay back with an added sense of security.
We all live in different places and have to decide what makes us comfortable.

Looks like between Buster, the wheelgun and door bell...you have things covered!

My cats notify me if someone comes to the door by hiding behind the couch or under the bed.
