Appreciated the article's ending commentary that the USAF has plans to name a new long-range bomber it envisions to be the "B-21 Raider." Great to remember this honored WWII Airmen group of "The Greatest Generation."

One of the first non-school books I read as a youngster. 30 seconds over Tokyo was inspiring to a lot of us young people. What a great adventure and sacrifice. God bless you sir

Its sad as most young adults today have no clue who these heros were. As PT mentioned greatest generation thats ever lived. Salute to those brave men.

Somebody had to do something at that point. No expert, but I don't think the Japanese navy had any concept of defeat; never tasted it.
Within a year, their carriers and best pilots are on the bottom.

The only thing against them is they raised the baby boomers. I would go back the their parents as maybe the greatest generation.
