For a while now Youtube has been clamping down on which gun videos they return ad money to the creators.
Yes it is a shame they are doing this for mostly political and PC reasons but it is their site and unfortunately a very popular place folks go to see videos that share their interest.
Was watching a recent gun channel that is popular regarding historical black powder guns and the owner was sharing his displeasure over certain videos he was no longer getting paid for. He stated he used the monies to help support his private range and shooting supplies needed to make his videos which is a true point running a video business.
My thoughts are he loves to shoot and prefers his own place to shoot how he likes when he likes and would most likely continue to do so Youtube or not. BUT it is a secondary advantage to be able to make some money on it if you want too.

Now I have a very small Youtube channel used mostly as a place to put videos to link to other sites like this fine place when I just want to share my shooting adventures with other folks who might have a like interest in the particular subject video.
Youtube is just my handy place to load to and is not really a totally organized subject site sharing my other interest such as automotive interest and trail cam videos.
In short....haven't made any bucks off it and it doesn't matter as I would be shooting and enjoying my little piece of country life anyway!

The Youtube "professional" shooting channels are a very nice thing to have available since on all the mega cable TV channels there is very little
gun and shooting channels to watch nowdays.

It's been rather handy for me not only as new person to guns to discover a number of them but also on how to disassemble and clean a good number of them as well.


Since I realize that they are benefitting financially from it I generally take what I've discovered from that source and research it further before I make a decision whether I want to actually buy one or not. But whether they have profited from it or not it's benefitted me greatly.

I’ve watched 90% of Paul Harrels videos, as well as some by iraqvet8888. If the guys are informative, not preachy, and entertaining, I’ll watch. Some of the hillbilly gun videos are entertaining, but for the wrong reasons!

iraqvet8888 is informative. Hickock is good too.

I have watched a lot of the guys, hickock45 being a favorite.
There are a number of others I like to watch, including this crazy russian who gets his hands on the most amazing things.
I have watched the Iraq vet for some time and was saddened when the old dude passed, and liked to watch the 22 trick shooting guy as well.

Let's steer it back away from politics folks, thanks.

Hickock45 is my go to person. Mainly because of the number of older or mid to late 1800 rifles and pistols or reproductions he talks about and shoots. Others such as 22Plinkster are good to watch as well.

I do watch Hickock especially when he is reviewing a gun I might want to purchase. I liked him better in his early days before the sponsor ads
just a simple guy with a GREAT backyard range shooting his reloads!
I notice he doesn't do the shooting lawn mowers and other items of target abuse he used to do.

I haven't followed him that long and never saw one of those. I saw one or two early videos that didn't include that neither but he certainly is more polished than he was in earlier videos. I'm sure they spend more time editing whenever necessary to make sure they are a bit more polished and his range certainly is better stocked now as well. Would Luv To Have that range.

They can keep all that goofy crap, really have no need for that.

Thanks, but like I said I have no use for it. So I'll pass. If he did it before so be it, glad he's not currently. Anyway, I don't watch all his videos but pretty much those where I am interested in a particular gun or somehow I come accross something like his presentation on the history of the Winchester rifle.

B. O. M., I think that crazy Russian is named Georg. He makes all sorts of projectile weapons. Some very impressive.

And he laughs like the count. Ha ha ha

His creations are well thought out and usually involve attempting to get multiple shots. He recently made a semi auto crossbow.

I have seen him shoot full auto shotguns, lots of russian military stuff, and odd weapons, and he always has a great time with it.
He tells it like it is, good and bad.

I forgot to mention the Forgotten Weapons channel. He mostly features military or police weapons from what I’ve seen, but there is some great knowledge and history thrown around. It’s a very professional production too, and most of his subject matter comes out of auction houses so you see some rare and valuable items.

There was a tv show on years ago hosted by Keith Carradine called Wild West Tech, it was enjoyable.

well and actually they show a good number of guns from the old west as well. Quite enjoyable.

I've found Hickok to be a good resource, too, if there's a vid by him of a gun I'm considering, as long as you can get by his occasional biases (which he's totally open about). He's sort of anti-Henry and very pro-Glock, for example. He's got some great knowledge, however, and some mad shooting skills, which always makes for good entertainment!

Yeah I remeber his famous words..."If I could only have one Glock it would be the Glock 23 .40 cal."
But then a year or so ago he caught the 9mm disease and banished all his .40/.45 cal Glocks to a hidden cave!
I actually bought a G23 after watching several of his reviews on it. Now with all the other guns in my collection I haven't shot mine in a good while!

I carried the Glock 22 full size 40 for several years as a duty weapon and liked it. I was a department instructor and armorer. One of our sister agencies made a swap from the model 22 to the mid size model 23... Our Chief asked what the training staff thought. We had no problem, I was already carrying one off duty. Glock gave us a great price on the new guns, and we got to buy the old guns AFTER Glock rebuilt them. (At special price.) I still carry the 23 as one of my three go to choices.
