The long way around...UPS shipping

Post by fortyshooter » Mon Apr 01, 2019 3:25 pm

Have a parts package coming from Michigan to my home in Va. and tracking says "by end of day April 2".
Interesting that tracking showed at 10:41 AM today April 1 it was in Jacksonville Fla. !!

Oh well as long as it gets here tomorrow.

Maybe it was shipped UPS 'Surepost'. Gets to the Post Office by UPS and then USPS delivers it. I do not like Surepost. I once tracked a package to the local UPS Customer Support dock (about 7 miles away) where it was then delivered to the USPS, sent to Bellevue Washington, 100s of miles away, then 2 days later in my mail box.

Surepost is the worst. UPS has dropped something or other at my local (KC) "distribution center," and it sits for days before moving again.

 Had a package forwarded to here from Madison, Wi. Now pay attention. Went to my old address in Rockford, IL , then to Chicago, then to Pittsburgh, back to Chicago, sat there for 5 days, went back to Pittsburgh, on to Charlotte, then to me in Raliegh. Whew! Took 25 days. Funny thing. When I thought it was lost, reorder it and the second order came in before the first.

Well the reason it's in Florida is the company shipping it put the wrong Zip Code on it! Guess nobody pays attention to the address.
Anyway probably won't see it till Friday dang it!

USPS computer sorting prioritizes the zip code first. The rest of the address comes into play once the package has arrived inside the zip code area.

Glad I've had pretty good luck with UPS, even when they turn it over to USPS. Scheduled deliveries have only been late by a day once or twice. Lucky me I guess! Now...WHERE'S MY GUN HENRY!!... ;)

I always fear annoying someone. Just like sending food back at a restaurant, don't know what you'll get in return... :(

I have a true story for that. Many years ago I went out to dinner with some friends at a very nice place. On being served our waiter dropped my plate on the floor face down. A few minutes later he came back from the kitchen saying they were out of that particular cut of meat. So I ordered something else. When he brought me my meal it was my original order, said the chief found one in fridge. I've often wondered if that was true or did I just eat the meat that had hit the floor. I'll never know in this lifetime.
