grip cap wood
A guy gave me a piece of walnut wood a while back. It has some decent wood grain and I thought it would make a few nice figured grip caps. It is over 3/4" thick so if I can saw it down the center after cutting it in to grip cap size I could get twice as many out of it. Maybe this can be used for some projects next winter. What do you think about the grain on part of this wood? Good enough to use?

You really didn't need to ask, did you?!? That wood grain is spot on, and either side will do, Bandit.
It will be fun to see your final caps, maybe brightened with some Renaissance Wax Polish, whenever you finish your project.

Sir Henry, If the sawing turns out good I will share some of this wood with you. If I cut it right there will be several really nice pieces for caps to be had by sawing it in the center to make two from one piece. The pretty grain goes clear through from one side to the other. How thick do you need yours to be? I personally don't like them thick. I like them thin and just enough to contrast with the stock wood and not need to add length to the pistol grip. Maybe 3/8 thick? It will be a while before I get this cut and you can let me know if you want it and how thick you need it.Sir Henry wrote:Can I put my order for two end caps in now?
