I would like to report on the quality of 'Muck' brand boots - specifically the 'Muckmaster' models I bought yesterday.
These are sort of a 'hybrid' between an irrigation style boot but with with insulation on the inside and and good, cushioned (but firm) sole and a great tread and REALLY grip on the ice.
My assistant had a pair in her office and a couple other guys at the shop had them AND I had been needing some better boots for winter and with the massive snow fall we experienced last week I decided to give them a try.
They are BETTER than I expected and for a slip on have pretty good support and are easy to walk around in. A thick wool sock on top of a thin, cotton high rise fills the gap well and my feet did not get overly hot in them in the 20-30 degree temps. I also really like the 'high rise' uppers.
I am not going to climb mountains with them but they have enough support for moderate outdoor activities in snow and the tall uppers make a HUGE difference as well. I recommend them for anyone needing a better winter/spring waterproof yet warm boot.

I have three pair. They are the best made boot in that category. I bought the utility pair for my parents farm and ended up wearing them most of the time when I would go out in the winter, three or four years ago.

Another fan here. I have a pair that have laces on the top, sort of like the old school LaCrosse rubber boots. They fit really well, yet are still pretty easy to take off, unlike some rubber boots I've had. Hard to beat 'em for use in snow.

Yeh, I could handle that for some nice snow boots!

Are they as warm as a pair of Sorrels? I have poor circulation in my feet and if it's really cold I use chemical toe warmers even with my Sorrels.

I have a pair of non-insulated Bogs slip ons for moving sprinklers and etc. out in my pasture, I call them my poop boots.

I had a bad experience wearing my Sorrels riding Ruby. She was 3 years old and just back from being gentle broke. Her trainer had told me I should ride her regularly through the Winter so she didn't forget her training. Went out one cold day and was going up a fairly steep road. She was acting up a little and when I got after her she slipped and went down. Couldn't get my foot out of the stirrup fast enough and ended up sitting on her with my leg trapped under her (like Rooster was in True Grit). Luckily she was able to stand up without rolling over or I would have been really hurt.

I've never owned Sorrels. So can't offer a comparison.

I've never had my feet get cold in the Muck Boots. They are like the ones MisterEd pictured and vertically stiff enough to slip on (step into). When I do that they shove up my pant legs and when I take them off my wife gets after me to "fix your pant legs". You can put them on with your pant legs tucked in, I just don't bother.

I kinda like those Bogs.

I've never seen the muckmaster boot here. Ive been wearing the lacrosse alphaburly pro, and its kept me warm all winter.

They are nice. They're not insulated but they do have a fabric type lining so they're easy to pull on and off and they're snug enough and have a firm enough insole to be fairly comfortable. I got them a few years ago when my neighbor had a couple of cows on our pasture but they work well for goat poop too.

Not great for very deep mud but I have the goats water and feeder set up so I don't have to go into their paddock when it's muddy.

The poop doesn't get too deep around here, nor the snow. Gonna be on the lookout for those or something similar.
Sometimes I cause the wife to put on her tall boots though!...

I wear Arctic Sport ones for all except riding. I wear Muck boot "Brit Colt" ones for riding. Designed for it with heel and spur shelf. My brass oxbow stirrups are extra wide to avoid getting hung up.

Unlike you RR, don't have to worry about sturrps..

I have a pair as wel, and while not as warm as Sorels, they are better than a lot of other options. They are more of a cold weather gumboot/Wellington/rubber boot. I’ve used mine standing in icy marsh water duck hunting and they kept me warm. Perfect for that kind of use. Mine are a bit lower than MrEds, but I found them at Costco for $60 or so.
