A few thoughts.

It's very good, but lacks the depth of his later work.

He carries a 1911, just like in Jesse Stone.

The 308 GTS has about the same horsepower rating as my 6 cyl Taurus. In fairness, the Ferrari is lighter, and has a 5 speed manual instead of a slushbox. It looks cooler too.

I don't care much for the mugging the camera they do every now and then. The once in Smokey and the Bandit was funny. Once or twice an episode in a series, not so much.

Selleck had to turn down a movie part because of the contract he had on Magnum PI.

Indiana Jones.

Selleck lobbied to keep the dogs when they decided to write them out of the script to save money.

Haven't got to Magnum PI yet. Still watching through Blue Bloods.

My mother liked it and Hawaii 5-0 original series. Magnum was a good show. Don't care for the remakes of either.

I couldn't make it through the trailer for the 'new' Magnum...

I really enjoyed the show, and found myself stationed on Oahu in a SAR squadron during the run... I was there from 82 to 85. We often flew over the "Robin Masters" estate. The family who actually owned the property rented it to the production company, and I'm sure over the years they regretted the decision over and over no matter how much money they made. They remained living in the property while filming went on. Hawaiian Law states that the beaches belong to the public to the high tide line, so folks would often swim around that sea wall and lay on the "Magnum PI" beach for pictures and picnics... when filming wasn't in progress. Hawaii PD finally stopped responding to calls of trespassers unless the "infiltrators" advanced onto the grass, where they could be arrested.

The Gates to the property were also a favorite tourist photo op, so ... there were always cars blocking the drive of the residents as well. NO peace ... I bet the owners of the property were overjoyed when the series finally ended.

The Blue Angels came to the base during my tour there, and Magnum decided to attend. He made a cool entrance. Then, rather than take advantage of the VIP seating, he sat right in the crowd with the fans. An funny anecdote. Roger E. Mosely, the actor who played TC stated during an interview, that one of his most often heard comments during his time on Magnum PI was, "You are much taller than I expected." He said, "I'm 6'2" tall, but working alongside Tom Selleck on Magnum... He is 6'4" and carries himself in such a way that he makes those around him look even smaller." He laughed... "I just got used to hearing, you are taller than you look on TV."

Selleck seems a very grounded guy still.

I was in Hawaii in 1992 and went to see the 'Robin Master's Estate'.
Nothing but a small sign identifying it as such and it didn't look anything like it did in the show. Seemed kind of run down actually.

Someone said that the property has now been sold and the new owners tore down the old buildings and are rebuilding new.
Beautiful beachfront lot, though very narrow. Now you won't be able to find it from the road, or so they said.

I used to watch that a lot back in the day. Simon & Simon was good as well.

Tom Selleck would be high on my list of famous folks I would like to spend a little time with.

Don't know if he would like to spend any time with me, but would probably at least be polite about it.

I agree CH, I can think of a couple others, but their names escape me. Actors, authors, and the like.
Famous folk who avoid the spotlight, like to woodwork, flyfish, and/or shoot, and avoid the hollywood hype. (Or so I have heard...)
My memory isn't what it used to be...

But ... For example, one of them is very well known... And has a turning shop at his home. Maybe William H. Macy?
Whichever one it was, he brought his lathe to the set of one of the movies and turned on his off days to relax, according to a four page article in one of my woodworking mags.

Another is into handgun shooting, and has a range on his Montana ranch, and a very nice collection to choose from.
