Anyone else into AM radios? Most of mine are transistor but I do have one old tube radio. I have them placed throughout the house so during Mariner games I turn them all on and can walk anywhere in the house and hear the game. Baseball is much better on the radio than TV. I do have the TV turned on but the volume is off. The radio is live and TV is delayed ten seconds so if I hear a good play I can run to the TV and see it.

When I was working I used to listen to games on the radio but now I only listen to the AM when I am in the car. Around here the games are the Orioles.

Driving and listening to the game is great. I would often drive over the mountain passes during the games and had the radio pre-sets all set to various stations on my route so I would always have the game on.

My MT husband listens to some sports on AM RADIO here in town and if he can get it around some mountains when we travel.

My husband will put on some games on the boob tube here at home if he feels like 'watching something', a RARE THING when it comes to ANY television, but ONLY listen to it on the radio too.

We only have OTA aka 'over the air' tv reception on purpose. I can pick up some tv stations in THIS part of town where I built this house but in MOST parts of this town and all around Montana here... OTA reception is a rare thing on THIS SIDE of the Continental Divide.

Baseball is something that I can understand, most of the game rules, and football never made sense to me.

(I did pay attention to the famous annual Army/Navy game though.)

I used to play a bit of baseball, tennis and badminton as a kid.

Swimming was my most popular sport year round most of my life. I was into sail and power boating for a LONG time too.

I have a portable one I got about 30 years ago. If I'm outside doing yard work, it's perfect for baseball on the radio. Baseball is better on the radio than it is on TV.

Gene you have some great old radios. My Grandmother had one that she bought in the 60's that I always liked. I wish I could have found inherited it. I don't remember the brand but it looked a lot like your Panasonic but lighter color.
I used to listen to Yankees games with my Grandfather in the early 60's and the announcer really knew how to tell the story of the game.

I have a Crosley retro AM/FM. But sadly only can bring in very little programming in this apartment -- other than static...static...static.
We have tried to bring in both FM classical music, and of course, AM Royal games -- to no avail.

My wife prefers radio, too, as we both grew up listening to radio more than anything else
So my daughter has borrowed it, and enjoys listening to it at her house.

Here's a web picture I found of our radio. What is really nice is that the top speaker is a "surround-sound" system...really cool, mellow sounds out of this small box!

Nope, it's not a real tube radio, SH.
I've always thought that "retro" means it looks old, but uses the newest technology.
When I saw this one in the store, the older dial face really caught my eye.
BTW, the dial smoothly turns through stations, which was another plus.

Sure wish it were making sounds at my place!

My old tube radio takes about two minutes to warm up before you get sound.

I have carrried a small digital am/fm radio for years. My preferred listening is the 'vast right wing conspiracy". But, I listen to the Rockies whenever I get the chance. And the "World Champion" Broncos. Did ya'll get the reverb in that?
