Sitting by the picture window looking out at the front yard on this very crisp and beautiful, sunny morning.
There are some puddles of water from the melting snow, and I saw a very welcomed visitor taking a drink. It was the first Mourning Dove I've seen since I moved here! Yeah

I enjoyed a pair at my previous apartment, who regularly visited the bird feeder on my patio. Looking forward to having them here now!

Mourning doves stay here year round. Robins, Stellar Blue Jay, Flicker Woodpeckers are back though, as is the spring visiting mated pair of Canadian Geese.

Sure do remember Mourning Doves, and their beautiful songs, when I lived those three years in McMinnville. Used to enjoy taking walks even in December around the neighborhood, watching/listening to those birds, and even enjoying some struggling rose bushes in neighbors' gardens. That was surprising to me. Definitely much milder winters there, although quite wet! For a long-time mid-Westerner, the milder climate took some getting accustomed to, but I enjoyed it.

Yes quite wet, but not anywhere near the volume we used to see. The creek below the back of the house regularly ran 6-7 ft in the winter. Rarely past few years has it gotten above 2ft. This year so far 1'8". Just persistent light rain and mist.

Well, we've had a coating of pollen on the cars for a few weeks now.

Not my part of spring he says, as he reaches for the antihistamines.
