Found this on Grit TV, recorded it and zapped through the commercials. What a cast! John Wayne's last and what a great one.

I know it has its fans here (I searched), and now I'm with all of you!

Yep - pretty much an 'all star' .
Last movie I saw at a drive in in So. Cal. before I moved to Oregon!

Know the title...but don't remember. I'm inspired to look for it and watch...thx, Evan!

Yup, one of the Dukes good ones.
I am also fond of the Cowboys.
Guess who actually got hate mail for Years after appearing in "The Cowboys?"

its been on the Western Channel a couple of times in the last week .... we watched it both times .... truly, the Duke at his best

At least once a year.
(Though thought of as basically the same movie, I prefer El Dorado over Rio Bravo.)

Actually he supposably got death threats for his appearance and what he did in the movie!

Yep - one of the best 'character' actors ever.
Try to catch some of his appearances in early episodes of 'Gunsmoke' and you'll see he never changed.
One of his best appearances however was not in a western but in the 1972 Sci fi movie 'Silent Running' - same character but in a futuristic space setting.
I recommend it for any sci fi fans who have not seen it - and in it you'll see the precursor for probably the most famous 'midget' robot in a movie just a few years later...

Great role, great story, great cast. A favorite (it was shown on STARZ Encore in Sept.; I still have it on my DVR!)

It was a very good movie. I enjoy watching it every once in a while.

" Silent Running " a great movie. I always thought the little guys were an important part of the movie and how Dean played off of them.

I always thought Bruce Dern should have been cast in 'The Shootist' as one of the challengers who gets blown away!

I have always thought that The Shootist was his best movie.

Serepta -one of the best bargirl names ever in a western. I remember how, after she had revealed her true colors, Duke just looks at her with disdain and says "God! And I LOVED you once! Get out!" A line only the Duke could deliver.

I did't realize IMDb did this, but there's a whole list of memorable dialogue passages. One of my favorites is when Harry Morgan tries to put it "in a nutshell..."

Yes, "The Shootist" Is probably Duke's best role. Sure liked him in "True Grit" also. Iconic role.

I always thought "The Searchers" was John Waynes best movie but he also had a lot of other good ones too.
