If you like westerns, and have amazon prime, you can watch all three seasons of Deadwood for free streaming to your tv. Miss T and I bought the boxed set and have watched it thru several times, Coincidentally just finishing the last trip yesterday evening. We started the six seasons of Justified this evening, a couple episodes at a time.

Can't wait for the Deadwood Movie.

Justified looks good too. Have only seen a couple of episodes.

I strongly recommend anyone watch the 3 seasons of Deadwood before you see the 2 hr new movie in spring. The movie is set 10 yrs after but you really need to know the characters. Just a heads up; the language, violence and racial slurs are rough. Not for kids.

LOTS of nudity...
LOTS

But... The quality of the production was very impressive. I commented to Miss T just the other night that i liked the way that certain characters dressed in their finest, ignored the frayed edges on the hats, the shoulders of the coats worn thru, tears or rips on the sleeves. It was their dress coat... So they were dressed up.

The set dressing is very well done as well. Mud, dust, dirt, the main drag filthy. The bar's patrons miners and working men reflecting thst in their dress and state of hygiene. Deadwood tried to be realistic.

Have the changed the language? I watched the original show and learned some new four-letter words. Should be a fun movie!

Agree with the realism. The main thoroughfare is always knee-deep muck.

Blackdog, I doubt the language will have improved much...

Holy cats! I joined a forum with other Deadwood fans!

Looks like 'almost' all the original cast. The actor who played Richardson passed away, that's too bad, I really liked that character! (I use his 2 thumbs up as an an avatar over on BCUSA...). The little girl's role will be played by someone else (meh).

I'm looking forward to more memorable lines by Al and E.B. !!

It's almost enough to make me sign up for HBO ... Thru amazon prime. We don't have cable. Guess I'll be waiting for the blu ray to come out, on this AND the final season of Game of Thrones.

Powers Booth, who played the evil opposing saloon owner Cy Toliver has also passed... So unfortunately he won't be back either.

I am a HUGE fan of Justified. i grew up in TN and I can relate to the scumbag drug dealing hillbilly criminals. Not that I ever was involved with real ones, but that type of struggling coal miner is prevalent in the Appalachians. Tho extremely exaggerated in the series. As is the frequent gunplay and showdowns. Your Daily Dose of Dead Drug Dealer.

I was an A&P mechanic in Nashville and around 1978 I had to fly into a small town in Eastern TN to get a plane flyable back to the hanger after it skidded off a slck runway. I was met after landing by a very nice young line boy who appeared to still be in high school and he drove drove me to the plane. The first thing he said was, “Do you lahk guns?” And he pulled out his brand new loaded Ruger Blackhawk to show me. It surprised me but there was no threat in it. LOL, those were much gentler times. Airport security? What is that?

I enjoyed Deadwood but had to grit my teeth hard to get past the extreme foul language and gore. One scene where the madam slashes the throat of one of her girls with a straight razor still bothers me to think about. That series is NOT for the squeamish or for children. I won’t watch it again. I hope the movie is a little less harsh.

Hell on Wheels, woohoo, I absolutely love that one. I also love anything with Robert Duvall or Tom Selleck. They both are qunitessential cowboys. The widescreen digitally remastered Lonesome Dove Bluray is especially wonderful compared to the muddy and squashed earlier releases. I tossed my VHS version when I bought the dvd, and tossed the dvd when I bought the Bluray.

I have no satellite or cable service. So no HBO for me either, nor Grit.

Yep, I just found Hell On Wheels this winter on Netflix and basically binged watched all of it in a few weeks. Great storytelling and scenery, not to mention the potboiler "crisis of the week," whether savages, plagues, crooked politicians, romances gone bad, you name it. Good stuff!
