Could someone explain what's the difference between active topics and new posts. I would think the active topics would be the ones with recent or new posts. I'm sure there is a difference ....I'm just too slow to figure it out.

New posts are relative to your last login. When you logout the new post listing is cleared. If you log back in immediately after logging out the new post list you get will be blank.

I bookmarked a search result for active topics with new posts within the last 24 hours, so whenever I log on to the forum, that is all I see.

.
I use unread posts as a backup after I accidentally prematurely logout or get logged out.

I get auto logged out if I linger too long without doing anything. Like after I go away and fix dinner. I expect this. Lot's of websites behave this way. I believe the FAQ for this site says so too. You as one of the owners would know how configurable that is. Also happens when my WiFi signal gets momentarily interrupted and the connection to the internet gets reestablished. The website I think sees it as new connection. I use a PC, but I suspect for cell phone users that cellular network interruptions could be frequent (and un-noticed) as the cell phone does it's roaming thing even when the user isn't. So maybe why you see more logouts. Just educated guessing.

Mags I have gone through all the site settings many times and just couldn’t figure it out till now. Now if I get logged out for any reason it only takes two clicks to get back in. I don’t have to retype everything.
