Christmas 2018

Thanksgiving has come and gone .... the calendar has been flipped to December .... what are your plans for Christmas ?

for us, we will once again tow our camper 3 miles and park it beside the home of our oldest son where our family will gather to spend Christmas .... we will have 5 grandchildren there ranging from age 10 to a little over 1 .... really looking forward to it

Latest plans for me....probably will not be able to celebrate Christmas to any great extent this year. My third oldest daughter has just bought her first house after a fairly long and challenging house hunt since last spring. We have been talking/planning for quite a while now that I will be renting from her. She has the closing this next Friday; I've given notice to my apartment manager for my exit from here to be on December 31st. So we'll be moving my small stuff by our two cars before Christmas, and probably moving day will be between Dec 25 and Dec 31 for me. She doesn't have a deadline to move from her rental agreement, so she'll move both during December and finish in January. Interesting winter plans, right?!?

BTW, along the December moving trail, my internet service here will end. Not sure how long my computer will be "silent," but will be back in cyberspace after my daughter sets up her internet service in the new house. Wow, first time I'll not be renting a small apartment since 2009 (all told, 9-1/2 years now). Seems much longer than just under a decade!

Just praying we'll not need to rent a sleigh to move......Quite the timing this holiday season!

Son in Law is being deployed out of Wichita KS where they live. My Daughter and two boys will come stay with the Wife and I for Christmas.
My oldest grandson is going to be three on Christmas Day and the younger one was just born Nov 2nd. I also have two grown boys that live here in town.
We will have the whole Family together except for the SIL. Which is a shame as we all get along with him great. He and I both love to shoot and get out
to the range every time he is here.

RR we need some deep snow pictures from Alberta with those Christmas lights and some front yard deer. Your right to. Hey Dave where are those lights I need the sound of breaking glass and something to shoot at.

No snow right now, but some on the way this weekend. Just pulled the shoes on the horses today so they don't slide around.

Family coming in. It's also alternative deer hunting season from 22 through the 1st. (muzzleloader,pistols, etc) ..I will use a muzzle loader and enjoy the late season hunting.

We will be home for Christmas. I am still getting used to having my husband home for an evening meal aka dinner since he retired from his crazy 24/7 job. Plus having him home for a HOLIDAY... that is a shocker in itself too.

My late husband and I enjoyed a quiet Christmas Eve and Day too. This time of year is when he was dying of cancer at our former house in another state and it is still sad for me.

My older brother is in Maryland. My older sister is in Florida. I never had children.

I can talk to them and to friends on the telephone year round. I can see a few people out here.

We keep busy with our donations here (MT) in person and we only had one money order gift to mail. The person already received it too.

The way most or MANY people are in this day and age when it comes to their 'whatever' (L or R and in between!) in politics, victimhood and !!! DRAMA... I would rather have the peace and quiet at home or be in the woods/wilderness alone or with my husband.

I will enjoy my Christmas music, a few good Christmas movies that we still own and watch a bit of my free-OTA antenna Christmas shows and movies on PBS and elsewhere.

We have a few traditions in our home. Just my wife and I as our son moved to Edmonton but may drive home for Christmas this year. Here's some stuff that is part of our Christmas routines:
Music - Gene Autry Complete Columbia Christmas Recordings, Harry Belafonte, Andy Williams, Johnny Cash, Mormon Choir, etc
Movies - It's a Wonderful Life, 3 Godfathers (John Wayne one), the Alastair Sim Scrooge version, Elf, lots of old Xmas movies on TCM
Radio - say what? Radio?....yup...I have some old Gene Autry radio shows from the 40's that have several Christmas shows...great stuff...light up the tree, pop some corn and step back in time with an old radio show

We eat a big turkey supper Christmas Eve and leftovers next day. Christmas Day I cook up a big bacon & egg breakfast, then we open presents. Then out to visit with the horses and give them treats.

It was way more fun when our son was a little guy, but everything changes.
