We have done Bucket Lists before... but I like to see what the new folks are thinking, and revisit the Current Member's lists, they may have changed...

Mine is pretty standard... but I am not in a rush. Here is the idea...

What is your Firearms Bucket list... what do you really want to add to your collection and why? The key question is why.


I don't really NEED any more. I'm getting old(er) and not competing anymore. Not working anymore. Not hunting... I have my carry pieces. But you know what they say: "You can never have too much money or too many guns."

So, if I should come across any of these at a good price or owned by a friend willing to trade for something I no longer need.... I think I could add them to my current collection.

1. Original Henry Rifle in 45 Colt or a 45-70

Yeah, yeah, I don't need either one, and don't reload either caliber, but there is just something about both that makes me want to be able to take them out of the rack and go shoot them. I always liked big guns. I think that's one of the reasons I became a door gunner. The 50 caliber....

2. Colt Gold Cup National Match Stainless.

I was shooting competition at the local level matches and had put my Springfield .45 in the hands of "our" guy to have it built with all the needed custom parts to make it a Match Gun. So, I was without a .45. My Team Mate's dad loaned me ^^^^ gun to shoot the service auto match with. It was out of his safe and rarely used. I WON the Service Auto match with the gun, beating out my teammate with his dad's gun. I offered to buy this beautiful gun... but the Dad said it wasn't for sale, it was going to JR when he passed. Yes Have wanted my own ever since, even though my Springfield shot just as good, if not better.

3. M1 Garand or M1A aka M14

I shot both in the 600 yard matches in the Corps and loved them. I preferred the M14 for the detachable mag and the 308 vs the 30-06 ammo, but I loved the sights on both. Plus, the Corps carried both into combat. A Marine should have one of each. Wink

4. Colt Single Action in 45LC or .357

Need I explain this one? The gun that won the west. 45cal is historically correct, but the 357 I already load for and it would match my Henry Carbine. I could live with a Ruger Blackhawk with stag grips.

5. Thompson with stick or drum mag

Who doesn't want a Tommy Gun? Not practical, but the cool factor is off the charts and I load for 45acp.

6. Colt Diamondback 38

I would add this to pair with the Diamondback .22 I have had for 30+ years that my Girls learned to shoot on. Beautiful gun, shoots like a dream, and getting harder and harder to find.

There are probably a couple more I'd like to have, but I'm in brain freeze mode... these are the main ones that are at the forefront. I am not actively looking, I will pick them up if they come to me. I would make a trade or a cash purchase if they were offered.

Ammo, ammo and more ammo. I'm good with 1 caliber, 1 rifle and 1 revolver .

My bucket list is to part with about 40 rifle and pistols. I have a lot of WWI and wWII military surplus weapons. Endields, Mausers and Mosin Nagants made up most of them.

The only rifle I really want that I don’t have is a Marlin 39A.

We're going nowhere we haven't been, before, but this next year, we've decided to balance our collection with more guns that put the fun factor in our shooting. We have no shortage of "serious" guns that can shoot those tiny "keeper" keeper groups, but time for more of those "plinker" grade guns. Oh, they still have to be accurate enough to be pleasing, but they need not compete with our best shooters. More guns like these little beauty,

1962 Belgium made Browning SA 22 22LR with vintage Browning 4x scope, recently acquired. Loads of fun. Still, truth be known, these little Browning autos fit me like a glove and are right near the top of my best offhand shooters, so they're also a serious gun for me. Hope to add similar guns, this coming year. Definitely going to be a rimfire fun season for us.

Uberti 1873 Stallion .38
Long Ranger .223/5.56 unsighted Deluxe Engraved, but probably have to settle for the standard version.
Get my vintage Mauser and Colt .32 to shoot reliably. Jams on eject/next round. Think it's a magazine problem.

38-55's sure would like to see one from Henry. Currently looking at adding another one. But I really like the caliber.

I've a hankering for a lever action in all my favorite calibers.

A Henry Long Ranger in 5.56 NATO. I can't think of a center fire cartridge that would be more fun to shoot in a lever action.

A Winchester 1885 low wall in 17wsm. I love this little rim fire cartridge and think the '85 would be the perfect rifle for it.

Lastly. I have a Henry but I desire a Marlin '84 357 CB with a 24 inch taperd octagon barrel.

Last one of those I saw sold for about 2K. The price of them has gone thru the roof. But I don't blame you for wanting one they are nice.

I'd buy a Marlington, if they came out with one. My LGS has had the new 357 CBs in, for about a minute.

I've got all I need at the moment but if I wanted to add to my collection I'd get a high grade O/U skeet gun and start shooting league again. I used to shoot league all the time and got away from it.

I've not thought a lot lately about the bucket list I once submitted in an earlier Henry thread. But since I've learned that I cannot easily shoot a long gun because of my combined cross-eyed dominance and elder eyes issues, I have turned off the "search mode" for another firearm. I'm also quite content since I've "replaced" the long guns in my cabinet with my small collection of S/A six-gun revolvers. I'm quite busy having much fun with these revolvers.

However......I do want to support Marine's thread; so here goes.

Although I have eye issues, this gun is really easy to shoot because it has a rear ghost-ring peep sight. I easily handled that type of sight, and shot well with it. So this is the long gun I'd consider, if ever in the market to get one again.

Benelli Nova Pump 12-ga Tactical shotgun. I had one several years ago, and needed to sell it to meet some financial needs. I've attached a couple of photos, which I've posted on our Forum before.

This is probably the most fun long gun I've ever shot....and I did "pump" a lot of rounds through it. Really enjoyed shooting 1-oz. slugs at long distances through this smooth bore, and also took it out deer hunting. Besides deer hunting, I'd consider dove or quail hunting with it. I think it's a most versatile firearm.

Maybe not replace. But I'd like a Browning made one.
Not being a hand gun guy, the FEG has jammed during extended shooting, say several 50+ round sessions in a day.
Looking a pricing of a Browning doesn't shock me.

M-14 with a match barrel and match ammo. My "sniper" in Nam. Just for the memories of the guys on the team. We were tight. All, but one , a Canadian pretty much forgotten in my fading memory.

I do not have a bucket list when it comes to firearms.

I shoot a FEW of the 22lr rifles that are here but I have not shot in a long time.

A few CZ bolt action rifles and sometimes the VERY light weight, single shot, Savage Rascal bolt action rifle designed for kids when my arthritis acts up more.

I ONLY shoot 22lr caliber now and I do not care to shoot another caliber due to my arthritis flare ups and old accident issues. I gave that some serious thought when I was out shooting the last time too.

I do not shoot handguns any longer as most of you old timers here already know.

I or we have plenty of 22lr ammunition.

My husband still 'reloads' - over 40 years. He has a bit of factory ammunition on hand but 99% of his ammunition is reloaded. He likes his own self made CF ammunition the best! He has his supplies on hand since we planned for that too.

My husband still loves to shoot his HENRY lever action rifles in 45-70 and in 30-30 calibers. He owns one each in a HENRY and one each in a Made in CT Marlin. He enjoys his bolt action rifles as always too.

He does not compete any longer. He still hunts on and off but not as much as before. He still shoots his 45acp pistol too.

He is still an outstanding shooter!

I am still a good shot (NOT like him though or some of you here!) and I still shoot standing up with no scope. Bifocal eyeglasses and I have worn eyeglasses since I was 5 years old.

I could care less if my husband went to ONLY his 22lr firearms and a good 45-70 or 30-30 rifle in his HENRY and Marlin that he can load any which way - which he already does.

In fact, I told him that he could go to 22lr firearms and a SWEET black powder rifle only if the mood struck him too. Uh huh. Grin. I was going to get him a BP rifle for a gift but he NEVER made up his mind for sure. It has to FIT HIM at 6'1" tall not me.

I still consider my USA Buck and my NEW YORK Ka-Bar FIXED BLADE knives my GO TO 'tools' at this stage of my life too.

He never did find a HENRY shotgun around here (IN town.) and I think that he quit looking too. I quit looking for him too. He wanted to SEE ONE IN PERSON and handle it. I did too. I don't care about that any longer and I think that he quit caring about one in a .410 too. We have not discussed it in AGES. He sold his last shotgun some time ago too. His sweet Marine Magnum - 12 gauge. He rarely ever shot it so he sold that as some of you may remember. I posted about that on here.

Our favorite gun store closed up in Ronan, Montana too. We are SAD that it closed. The owner retired. We MISS the store and our favorite salesman. Life goes on.
