I ordered new wood for my 39A Marlin from Numrich last week and it arrived today. The wood was left over factory Marlin wood from the 1897 Century Limited. It was priced very good and usually they have nice grain. It isn't to bad but I may do a finish job on it to bring out the grain the factory finish hides. The fore arm was $29.60 and the butt stock was $53.20. Price was good. Wood is in great condition for a wood that was for a rifle they built 19 years ago and only was made in 1997. No wood lottery winner but I am happy.

I think it is a "wood lottery winner." The grain really looks great!

Whenever you finish your "finish job" and bring out the hidden grain, please do some comparison photos for us, OK?

The butt stock is going to look fantastic, cause it looks mighty good now. The forend is hard to tell with the factory finish but you sure can't hurt it by making it prettier.

I for got to show the other side of the butt stock. Here it is and it at least matches the other side. I may take a chance and order another fore arm and play the lottery on getting a better one.
