I bought an old box of bullets at the last gun show. Made by R.B. Sisk of Iowa Park, Texas. The name Neidner on the box is A.O. Neidner (1863-1954) from Malden, Mass. that built rifles and did work with developing cartridges. Neidner has quite a history. He joined the Army in 1880 and fought in the Apache uprisings against Geronimo and Victorio out west. Then came back and opened a gun shop in 1906 in Malden and worked with famous barrel maker Harry Pope making tools and rifles. He made the prototype Patridge sights for Eugene Patridge that the sights were named for and still used today. He also invented and made the Niedner checkered steel butt plate and steel grip caps that is used today on custom rifles and options on rifles from companies that build high end guns like Cooper. He built custom rifles for Townsend Whelen, Charles Newton, and Ned Roberts. He worked with Newton on cartridge development such as the 25 Newton that eventually was shortened in length and became the 250/3000 Savage. He developed the 25 Niedner in the early '20's that is now known as the 25/06 Remington. He complained about the inaccuracy of the 22 rim fire to Major Dooley of U.S. Cartridge Co. and Dooley gave him 10,000 primed 22 long cases and 25lb. of powder to experiment with to make it better. His experiments helped in the development of the 22 LR. This guy had a life of working with what he loved to do. These bullets are in the 80 year old range and it is a full box and I won't be shooting them.

Many years ago, I remember my dad saying there is nothing better than a Pope barrel.

I had a guy at a LGS yesterday tell me he had sold a box of the Sisk bullets on the internet for $40. That would be a nice profit but I think I will just keep this box for a while even though the seal has been opened. I counted them and there is 101 bullets in the box just like Sierra packed their varmint weight bullets. I can't believe these bullets never tarnished in all those years in the box. Is there any way to clear plastic wrap something like this to keep it nice but still see it?

If you have a vacuum sealer for food, that should work fine. Used mine for lots of other things besides food. But don't tell my wife.
