Finally relocated to Raleigh,NC and I run into a Cat. 5 Hurricane! Welcome to the East Coast. Going out for groceries, filled up with gas (no lines) and as the ladies in the leasing office said " hold on".

I was in a similar situation in December 1995. Just had unloaded the last truck as we moved into our current place. Boxes stacked everywhere in the house. Got hit by a storm with 75+ mile per hour storm. Place is forested and we had branches and whole Doug Fir trees falling all around us. Very scary. Nothing big actually hit the house. Power was out for 8 days. Then 2 months later we had a record 500yr flood! Winter water level in the creek behind is usually about 4ft. We had about 15ft. None got in the house but we were an island for a few days.

delighted to hear your move is complete .... no, we didn't stage a hurricane to celebrate your arrival .... you will quickly learn that 2 different weather "events" really spook most of the folks in our area .... one is a hurricane and the other is frozen precipitation

Stay safe. Fire a few rounds into that monster....maybe it will take the hint.

Don't feel bad. I know a guy moved to Hawaii and the volcano that had lain dormant for years erupted and ate the house he had just bought. Okay, to be entirely fair, it didn't eat his house. It ate his entire neighborhood... and a good chunk of that corner of the island. Sheesh... it wasn't like it was picking on HIM in particular or anything.

Appreciate all the concern. We are all set as we can be. Our first hurricane. Well, my wife and I wanted to start a new chapter in our life by moving. If this is chapter one, it's going to be one heck of a best seller.
