I came across this quote in an arrogant video on you tube... the rest of the info was a waste of time, but think about this for a minute... I have paraphrased a bit, but you get the gist.

"People in expensive suits might look really impressive, until you realize that many of them work for a guy in jeans and a T-shirt."

Funny, but I know/have known several folks worth big money. Those at the lower end of big money drove fancy cars and wore high end suits. The two at the tall end of the money tower... jeans or work style khakis and t-shirts or well worn flannel shirts were daily wear. The cars were years old and though mechanically sound, nothing you would look twice at. (Their wives? High fashion and a new cadi every other year, but that is another post. )

How about y'all? Same experience? Or does it depend on geography?
Note: I said daily wear... both my guys cleaned up nice, both owned suits and a tux when occasions demanded.

Had a boss (great boss, by the way) who came to work in a ratty t shirt and jeans, most days. When he dressed up i a suit and tie, we all knew he had important guests to impress.

Sounds like my current boss. Shorts and a tee shirt with sandals. No socks too!

My last supervisor was a really great boss -- very intelligent, demanding of excellent work, but very fair-minded, good sense of humor, and the most colorfully-dressed person I've ever worked with!!

He wore the most vibrant, almost "wild" colors. I hazard to use the word "clown clothes," but that best describes the explosion of colors he wore, if you can imagine. Yet all his outfits were in excellent taste.

I believe his clothes were somewhat expensive; his goal was to become a university president, which he has achieved and is now working in that position at northeastern private college). I thought it was most cool when he wore bow ties, brightly-colored socks, shirts, and regular ties, too --- all perfectly color-coordinated. I wonder to this day if he set up his own wardrobe each morning. With my color blindness, my wife was afraid to let me out of the house un-inspected!!

The one man I spoke of, drove a used station wagon with a cobbled together wooden platform for his desk on the passenger seat. When he could no longer depend on that wagon, he would go to the dealership and they would find him another USED station wagon, he never bought a new car for himself. He dressed daily in work khaki pants and well worn (soft) flannel shirts year round, sleeves rolled up in the summers. Some with holes worn in the shirt pockets where he carried his ink pens and reading glasses. He just didn't care.

He had a Genius IQ, and had flown bombers in WWII. He came home and went back to his construction business and raised a family. He owned several shopping centers, and several city blocks.. BLOCKS.. in Richmond. He also owned multiple rental properties throughout the state. He was softspoken and kind, but had an iron will and not someone you would want to cross. I met him thru Miss Tina, who had known him since she was a child, and had trained his horses and cared for his horses off and on for years. We lost touch with him after his last two horses passed and he didn't replace them. I admired the man, and was sorry to hear he had passed a few years ago.
