Shoot before you eat

Post by bandit1250 » Thu Apr 28, 2016 9:50 am

I had targets up at 22yds. to shoot my air rifle. I couldn't find where I had left my can of pellets. Then my wife calls me in to eat dinner. After dinner I look for my pellets and still couldn't find them. So with targets already up I thought I will just shoot the Marlin TDS with the peep sights on it at the 22 yd. targets off hand. Well I found out real quick that after eating it was much harder to hold still. I shot a tube full(11 rnds.) at each of the two targets and was not very good. So I laid the rifle down and mowed the lawn and had to rake it up. Then I put some things away. After 2 hrs. I tried shooting again. I had 17 rnds. left in the box so one target got 9 and the other eight. Was easier to hold steady then right after eating. These two targets were as soon as finished eating.

Two hours later was better. Do your shooting before eating a meal.

I also did find my pellets the next day. I left them down by the garage where I was shooting carpenter bees with my Sheridan air gun.

You blood pressure rises with a full stomach as well as your heart rate. In my last range report I mentioned that with a 24X scope at 100 yards the point of aim moved about an inch with each heartbeat.

I thought you have to wait an hour after eating or you'll get cramps. Maybe that was something else. :)

Maybe that is Sir Henry's problem. He always has that cup of coffee sitting there on his shooting table. ;)
