Hey, in response to the Wiz's "Songs that make you cry" thread I thought we'd do this. I'll kick it off. I'm sure there is somebody in the world that doesn't like these girls version of "Island in the Sun". I just couldn't imagine who that might be :D

Cool 8-) spin-off from Wiz's thread, now to bring us the smiles and laughs of memory lane....thanks, Henry!

This is a song I've heard many times over the years. I found the origin of the lyrics on Wikipedia:
"This Little Light of Mine" is a gospel song written for children in the 1920s by Harry Dixon Loes. Although the words of the song have a Biblical theme, it is unclear as to which specific Bible verse it is based upon. Today, many versions of the song are available.
The groups or "choirs" I've heard sing it have always been little kids, mainly of grade school age. This is an audition on Britain's Got Talent two years ago by a really energetic and fun adult choir. I've watched it a number of times in the last few months, and it always makes me smile....and I even have clapped along with the music!

Have fun watching the choir sing, the BGT judges after the golden award buzzer was hit, and the "final decision." :D PT7

This is the song she is known for. My wife and my favorite Christmas song. She has a great voice and should be more popular than she is.

Looked for some instrumental sounds while on the computer this quiet afternoon.
Found this grouping of "Wild West" songs, and am enjoying them at the moment.

I liked the front photo intro & commentary with the song collection (publ. by Annie Quiller on 8/24/17).
Thought I'd add those here, too. Enjoy!

1890 painting by Frederic Remington, "Dismounted: The Fourth Trooper Moving the Led Horses", refers to the cavalry’s method of getting its horses efficiently off the battlefield. The soldiers would count off in fours, and every fourth trooper would lead his horse and the other three to safety.

Our son is a Captain for Cal Fire. After 21+ days on the Ferguson fire he and his crew were pulled to go rest up. While catching up with him he sent us the link to this video. Makes Mom and Dad proud.
