on the road again

Post by Sir Henry » Sun Jun 03, 2018 5:16 pm

After making a quick check on the ice maker I headed out of town for a short four day trip. This teardrop is sure a thousand times better than my last trailer. It has everything except a pot to piss in.

I stop here for a latte and to use the restroom.

Can you find Waldo? This is a very secluded park and most of the sites are not within sight of each other.

No one in front or behind me so I was able to drive straight in. I have parallel parked my old teardrop before. Difficult but not impossible.

I remember swimming in Lake Wenatchee, even on a hot Summer day it was so cold you didn't stay in for very long. One time I dove into the Little Wenatchee River which is one of the 2 glacier fed rivers that empty into Lake Wenatchee, it was so cold all you could think of was getting out as fast as possible.

Beautiful photographs Gene. I like how no one else is around. The season must not have started there yet?

It is really good to be out and about. I wish Miss Evelyn could have come with me but she works. Plus I had to have someone take care of my two cats.

Gene, I noticed that you aren’t using a weight distribution hitch. How is your Outback Touring handling the teardrop’s weight?

My teardrop weights about 1,800 pounds fully loaded. The Outback has plenty of power as I bought the Touring 3.6R engine. My biggest issuewas tongue weight. When the trailer was in the garage I put the front jack on a bathroom scale and got the tongue down to under 200 pounds. All heavy items must go behind the trailer axle. This solved that problem.

The trailer tracks true as the wheels are very far apart compared to the height and center of gravity.

Ah, photoshop. I have never mastered it. I actually have traveled the Adirondacks off season where I wouldn't need photoshop. Not so much anymore. There doesn't seem as much of an off season.

Still, great photographs.

I know what you mean Dave. I was there early and got a spot but an hour later it would have been difficult to find two spots together.

This teardrop has a sofa.

It is difficult to keep the interior picked up but people like to stick their heads inside so I try to make it presentable. If you are shy or a recluse this trailer is not for you.

Do they still give a good tour of Grand Coulee Dam?

I remember back in the '70s, wandering around Rocky Reach Dam late at night, the grounds were completely open and there were even areas in the dam itself, like the fish ladder viewing room that you could enter, no security at all. Those days are long gone.

Yes you can still tour the Third Powerhouse after going through security. The main dam is off limits. I've driven over it many times back in the 60's and 70's. I believe it was still possible up until 911.
