It's springtime in Texas, so we're in the chuckwagon mode. Last week we set wagon camp up for 5 day of living history at the Diamond B Ranch in Neches, Texas. It was truly an Old West Adventure. Our wagon crew visited with many saddle riders and teamsters pulling wagons from miniature mules to draft horses and everything in-between. The sunrises and sunsets were stunning. The ranch had many events available from trail rides to clinics. A few of the clinics were Colt Starting, Dutch Oven Cooking (which our crew taught), Mounted Shooting, Wheelwright, Mounted Prairie Living History Demonstrations, Herd Dog demo, Cowgirl Zumba and a Shootout with the Texas Pistoleros. It doesn't get more cowboy than grinding Arbuckles' Ariosa Coffee beans on the ole chuckwagon, then cooking it on the open campfire!

Sweet. Always wanted to give er a try, but back when I could... I just didn't have the time... now that all I have is time... age and gimpy prevents me from doing all the things I was going to do when I finally "got the time."

nice outfit indeed ... don't know if you are aware but the Studebaker National Museum located at 201 Chapin Street, South Bend, IN 46601 ===> https://studebakermuseum.org/# .... they started out building covered wagons .... in their museum they have antique chuck wagons along with horse drawn wagons up to WWI ambulances .... if you are ever in that area, its well worth a visit

I'm familiar with Studebaker wagons, but I wasn't aware they had a museum. Thanks for the info. If I'm ever in South Bend, I'll make sure and make time to tour it.

Thanks! I try and always take photos or our adventures. Our crew is made up of retired military and law enforcement, with a two cowboys thrown in. We've all worked hard long hours in our respective careers. Now that we're retired, we collectively enjoy coming together and experiencing epic adventures. We'll be in Lebanon, Missouri for the 8th Annual Wagons for Warriors event. It's over Memorial Day weekend, and is the largest chuckwagon gathering in the country. As of now, 41 wagons are committed to attend. If you're in the area, stop by and visit. The food will be outstanding.

You guys are certainly living the dream. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

When I grow up, I want to be you and RanchRoper.

I'll keep that in mind. I have a daughter in OK... and son in TX and we keep planning to get out that way... but life's roadblocks keep putting monkey wrenches in our plans. I do appreciate the kind offer.

Marine is absolutely right about "taking a little time now and then." Great advice! Well, I'm also retired, but haven't had the opportunity for many retirement "adventures." Your invite to your camp just "to enjoy" sounds appealing.

Do you have a web link to the next gathering of your Wagons for Warriors? I'd like to look it over, and also get the location/address where it will be held in Lebanon. I'm in the KCMO Northland, and Lebanon is just a 3-hour drive for me....not overly far, and the southeast MO drive will be a fairly easy one. So I'm thinking about taking a little bit of time for myself this summer/fall. If planning works out, I might show up for some of those great-looking porkchops in your photo, too. BTW, all your photos are very nice....you've caught the spirit of your gathering in pics, as you can tell from Forum members' comments.

Wagons for Warriors is annually held on Memorial Day weekend in Lebanon. You should come, I know you'll enjoy it. They have a facebook page which generates plenty of activity. If you have FB, here's their link. https://www.facebook.com/wagonsforwarriors/

I'm sure we can find a nice tin, copper or graniteware cup on the ole wagon for your Arbuckles'. Defiantly, bring the guitar!
