Stephen Hawking lived an extraordinary life. He was a man with a gentle, loving, humorous spirit; an inquisitive mind and intellect; and a person of exemplary courage. He was an inspiration in so many ways to many, including me. Thank you, Dr. Hawking.

I'll second that. He really was a price example of a "beautiful mind".

The descriptions you both wrote, CT_Shooter and NCG, barely scratches the surface of Stephen Hawking's incredible mind. The attached N.Y. Times reporting has a variety of descriptions also....most are inadequate, because of the uniqueness of this man's knowledge and thinking. Although the Times article is somewhat lengthy, it is a most interesting read. And I really liked the article's title, "His Mind Roamed the Cosmos." And yes, he did have "exemplary courage" as he overcame such huge life obstacles!
