Cool Tree!

Here's something you don't see every day. I recently cut a new trail down to the river on my property. The old trail was too steep and overgrown. So I connected some game trails and cut the brush back enough to not drag brush and get ticks. In the process I found this tree that grew into itself. I'm think another tree fell on it while it was a sapling and 2 branches got crushed together. The tire in the pic is now gone. :D The area above this trail was used for many years to dump farm debris. I cleaned most of it up years ago. But things still appear from the ground and brush from time to time.

Nature does some pretty amazing things. We once came across a deciduous tree that long before had totally enveloped a pine sapling. About ten feet off the ground, there was this pine branch growing, looking very much as it if it belonged there.

They used to graze cattle in these woods. Down by the river there are several huge trees with fence wire going through the middle. Used as fence posts when they were saplings. Over the years I've found interesting things in my wood stove. Metal stuff that was inside trees. We have several massive yellow poplars down by the river that have knees on them like cypress trees. I guess they grew like that to stabilize them in the soft soil.

Noticed this anomaly just last year. Strange how nature does things sometimes.
