Does anyone play guitar " I am a rank amateur " but enjoy getting with friends that play music and swap stories . If so ,what type do you have. Hope this in the right category , don't know my way around as well as I hope to.

Been playing guitar and bass for 50 years. Played in bands on and off. Recorded a couple of cd's. Have a bunch of guitars and amps and stuff. Epiphone mostly. Sold my 75 Gibson flying v last year.

I have been playing over 50 years in country bands. My wife also plays and sings. I only play. I don't know how good I am but I did get inducted into the New York State Country Music Hall of Fame for my playing. My wife is in the New York State Hall of Honor, first step to getting in the Hall of Fame. I have 3 Chet Atkins model Gretsch guitars, A Ventures model Mosrite and a few I made, and a few Fender amps and 1 Peavey Delta Blues Amp. I no longer play out, just around the house.

I've been "playing" for around 50 years, on and off. I've been in a couple of bands, but I'm definitely not a musician. I put "playing" in inverted commas, but it should really be "playing at", because I'm just as bad now as I was 50 years ago.

I forgot to add that my old flying v paid for my 1860 Henry and a whole pile of ammo...

I can relate. Myself and a few of my friends were playing at a Seniors group once a month. Going to hopefully start back soon. We play the old gospel hymns and a touch of Bluegrass. I have a Martin HD-28 acoustic ,that is a better guitar than I am a player.

I have dabbled with pedal steel guitars. Love the sound, but seems like I just go so far with it, then sell out . Eventually I will get back in and start the cycle again.

Sounds like there is a lot of musical talent on here. I am already impressed with the line up of guitars that have already been mentioned. I am envious of the ones that can make playing look effortless, while I struggle along. But it is very therapeutic . I appreciate those that have already chimed in.

I have found that quality guitars and guns are like savings, that you hope you never have to deplete.

I have an Epi Dot semi hollow body archtop electric, an Epi Thunderbird Bass, an Epi Viola Beatle Bass, and an Epi acoustic Hummingbird. All good quality at reasonable prices. Solid, working musician guitars for clubs and and rugged use. Epiphone makes good stuff.

Yes sir, I have had Epi Les Pauls. Great quality...

I had an uncle who started to teach me to play when I lived in FL, then we moved to VA. I picked at it, never really taking another lesson.
I was a John Denver fan, and finger picked. This was the early 70s. When I went in the Corps, I dragged a cheapo guitar around, and picked with friends in the barracks. They were always way better than I. But, I could play My Sweet Lady, Dust in the Wind, Carry on Wayward Sun, and a few more... and sing a tune or two respectably, until a bilateral jaw surgery. Then I just picked and grinned.

When I reenlisted the first time, I bought an Ovation Custom Legend 12 string, perfect for the music I liked to play. I was still a hack, but it sounded better on that guitar. When my daughter was born in Hawaii in 81, the guitar was sold for the crib, stroller, changing table, and all the rest a baby's room has to have if you don't want to listen to your ex whine about this or that until they get it.

Never played again... I had a new baby to play with, and life takes new turns. Sometimes I miss it. Lol.

Well, let's see: 1977 Guild Starfire IV (walnut); 1983 G&L Legacy Custom Tobacco Burst (Mahogany/Rosewood neck, switch to allow all 3 pickups together), 1997 Guild BluesBird, 2000 Guild D30 (Maple), 2010 Gibson Les Paul Special (P90's), 2015 Reverend Buckshot, 2016 Reverend Pete Anderson, 1967 Guild Thunder 1 amp, 2012 Peavey Delta Blues amp.

Some great looking guitars. I also have a Peavey Delta Blues amp with the 15" speaker. I love those big speakers.

Anyway gorgeous day so I dragged them out

Epi LP Standard mid to late 90's. Replaced about everything in 20 years. It has the Seymour Duncan pups, Demarzio electonics, etc, custom nut.
Epi Dove acoustic electric made by Samick late 90's to 2000.
Fender Strat Hardtail all stock bought used in '75 probably early 70's
Fender Standard Strat 2000
Epi Accubase 2000s this is cool because beneath those big brass ferrules it's wired through the back like a Tele.

In the back is my super reverb that I bought new in Miami in '75.

Honorable mention to Harkte 90W base amp and Fender practice amp.

BTW use the LP and Dove 90% of the time, Fenders usually sit.....................
