A quick check of the Encyclopedia of Art reveals that the Christmas meat in the first painting was harvested from the second painting.

Nice! I often pickup a magazine called "Backwoodsman". They usually feature similar type artwork on the cover. Usually by one of their advertisers. Often very nice work. Some western some just wilderness type stuff.

I've visited the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in OK City 3 times and wouldn't hesitate to go back again .... link below .... there aren't many museums I can say that about ..... it is truly an outstanding museum

I subscribe to it. It is a great resource for "resourcefulness".

When we go visit the middle child in the spring, i'll have to catch the museum.

Ive seen some pictures out of a camera by RR that have some real nice western art.

We still have a few places left with no fences....

Bill loves the Remington sculptures, so started collecting reproductions (with my hearty approval, of course ). Has quite a nice collection. Here's a few.

A long time ago, on a family vacation to Yellowstone, etc. when I was 15, I bought a small reproduction of a Russell print called "Who killed the Bear?" I wonder where it went? Still one of my favorites of his; I really like both Russell's and Remington's work.

This piece of Western Art hangs over the sofa in the living room, and is a large original painting. It's probably 3-1/2 feet high and 5' wide. Tina fell in love with it when she saw it in the gallery some fifteen years ago, and made an offer but the owner was firm on the price. We admired it on every visit but he was firm. Eventually, we came in and he had a second picture to show us, from the same artist. "If you take both," he said, "I'll make you a package deal."

It wasn't much of a break so we turned him down, came back in a couple weeks, and they still hadn't sold, he cut us his bottom line and we walked out with them both. We love this picture and all the kids have whispered in Tina's ear that they want this picture when we DIE....
The grand kids have all laid in their carriers and cribs and stared at it for hours, and the toddlers point and say the people dance.
Yeah, I love this one.

Here is the second pic we picked up in the package. It's on the wall across the room behind my Chair. We like this one too, but no one ever claims to have seen HIM dancing.

I like western art alot. I have more but these statues were made in Boulder,Colorado. Im not sure of any of the history around the maker but there genuine Monfort Statues. I will get more pictures up of other things I have as soon as I can. Al
