What does the 'scrolling' lines in the circle to the left of the thread mean? (as opposed to those that are stationary)

that would be a question that might best be answered by Dave (daytime dave) .... he's our Wizard behind the curtain that knows what levers to pull and how to pull them ..

It appears that when a thread has three or more pages it activates the scrolling.

And it appears that if it has a star in it, you've already commented in the thread. If it's red, there are new posts; otherwise, if it's blue, there aren't any.

I pulled the right levers and the fellows got to it before I saw it. They are correct. Thank you gentlemen.

So now I know also. I was perplexed to what it meant.

Every gold star under someone's info area is how many years they have been a member of the forum.
