We had a big field near my house when I was a kid. Grab the GI Joe footlocker full of gear and off to the sand bunker for some fun. No cell phones, Xbox or computers. Just outside all day with imaginations.

I lived in rain country so outside was limited with the tank at times. We would take the tank to my buddies house and go to his basement. There we would build the fort from Lincoln logs and then man the fort with those little plastic army men. Tiger Joe would make quick work of the fort of course with those huge bullets. Before Joe hit the fort though we would shoot the army men with bb guns. I also had the Canon Mighty Mo it shot those black round canon balls. Those were the days when toys were cool. Fanner 50's shot grey plastic clip in bullets.

I had a huge collection of the full sized Joe's with the realistic hair, not the painted on stuff. I had the GI Joe "Rat Patrol" jeep with the 50 Cal mounted in the back, and all my guys had all their gear... I was anal about keeping up with stuff, even back then. Joe's and Hot Wheels, I had a ton, and I bought most of them myself, mowing lawns.

The other thing we all had were the "Johnny Eagle" guns. Very Realistic. We all had old asthmatic lever action BB guns that would barely shoot, but had discovered that a drop of machine oil or baby powder down the barrel every now and then would make them cough a puff of smoke when you shot them, to accompany that asthmatic pop... too cool.
