The author of the video posted this note:
A reminder to those who question the safety of the shot; there are 500 acres of uninhabited hunting land behind the pool. No houses, highways, playgrounds etc. as some have insinuated. It was a 100% safe shot. In addition: the bullet went four feet into the pool, expanded perfectly, and was found laying on the bottom of the pool.

Good hunting vid! I hope he ate it -- or at least made a hat out of the hide. It would look good on a sportsman like him.

I well remember when a 357 was declared as the most powerful .... later the 44 Mag and then the race was on .... one of our sons has a 460, it fires a .454 Casull as a lower recoil alternative ..
.. a 44 Mag is strong enough of me and, truth be told, a 357 would probably surfice

That's a pretty good video. As most of the comments said, that is true freedom.
In the most powerful handgun world, I enjoyed the .357 when I had the chance to try it. I have a few. When I got a .44 magnum, I had a very nice gun for hunting. I stopped there. I have a few of them. They compliment my .44 mag Big Boy Henry. I was next offered a .454 Casull. I watched the owners wrist as he shot it and decided I was not interested. The .460 and .500 S&W were fun to shoot, but not anything I needed. I'll stick with .44 magnum. I think it would have made the pool drain pretty well too.

There is a followup "Director's Cut" about two minutes long that explains his intent with shooting the pool...
He planned to fire five shots into the pool, expecting the bullets to just make five holes in the side and then fall to the bottom of the pool, knowing that water is a great test medium. He wanted to evaluate the performance (expansion) of the bullets.
It's his wife behind the camera....
He didn't expect the concussive force of the 500 magnum... nor that it would blow out the pool.
In the followup unedited version, you hear the wife after the water flows by say something like: "Really? Five Shots Huh?"
