It's Hives...
Last week, I had to go to the VA and see the doc due to a possible pressure sore in an uncomfortable location.
It's bad enough to have your doc look you right in the "eye" but when she is young and VERY attractive, it's even worse. I suggested that she might want another doc in the room, just for the protection of HER reputation. "No Problem," Said She, smiling... (perfect teeth too...
) ... "Before we get that far, I'll have the attending physician come in and be present." SHE was just a resident, which might explain why she looked 16 years old.
She gets all her info, and discusses her conclusion, without having seen the problem (location) yet. Then leaves. She comes back with the attending Physician.. who is also not bad looking. SHE is about 50, but ...
They prod and poke and decide it's not a pressure sore, but acknowledge my pain and give me some prescriptions... including an antibiotic. I am allergic to penicillin and quiz the doc on the drug. PCN makes me stop breathing... this could be a problem.
Nope, I'll be fine she says.
A week later, (Yesterday morning... ) I wake up with painful lumps around my single eye in the nether regions. Painful to the touch. Have been there before, following a broken, nearly severed tip on the pinky of my right hand. Same exact symptoms... and the HIVES started in the same area. Within a couple hours they had started to spread. I stopped taking the meds and tossed the last of the pills. I started taking benedryl. It slowed the progress. I was at the VA all day, and they said I was right, once again seeing a female Physician's Assistant. She just jumped right in with a big magnifying glass and got up close and personal.
She gave me topical pain meds, more benedryl, and told me the Hives would eventually go away. "Cowboy Up."
I have plenty I want to be doing, but OMG... this sucks.
Any Grandma's secrets to help me out here?
(Sorry guys, I know posts are better WITH pictures... but trust me... you don't want to see pictures... it's nasty.)
